What rods are you big HP guys going with?

Im not so sure I trust the eagle H beams for what I want to do, I had some callies/oliver billet I beams lined up but that might not go through. What do you guys think about the lunati pro mod rods? I like the idea of a parabolic type I beam rod than an H beam rod for weight and strength. The pistons I will be using are 515 grams.

I'm running the Lunati Pro Mods, and even though belt slip is limiting me to about 612 fwhp, they're still holding :-)

I am using the Lunati Pro Mod rods in my 383/GT80 R-trim combo. I've only heard good things about them.

Oliver billet, but I've used Lunati Pro-Mods and Crower's before and had no problem.

Eagle H-beam on this car. Eagle H-beam going into my DSM, and Eagle H-beam going into my 2JZ-GTE Supra motor. Heck buddy has a 377 SBC, running Eagle H-beam rods spinning to 7600rpms and running 137 in the 1/8th and car weighs 3400 lbs. Been through 3 sets of pistons and 1 block ,but same Eagle H-beam rods for the last 4 years. No sense in spending extra $$$ when something cheaper does the job and then some.

To be honest with you, I have never heard of a Eagle H-beam breaking under stress. I have heard one break from a rotating assembly that was not balanced correctly, but that is it.

Im using eaglw h beams and making about 500 now...plan on maxing out 14# of boost in a couple months and making ~650 hp with the same rods...

...my friends is shoort for the 1000hp mark on the same rods in a 387ci T88 setup. just put the motor in tonight :)

And BTW i say eagle, but there really prowler rods or precision something...same things, there all made in china anyway.

The Eagle's are fine as long as you change the bolts. The stock 8740's sometimes break when you torque them down. I upgraded to ARP 2000's, but the L19's are stronger, but have larger heads.

well, im not a big HP guy, but i do have the Eagle SIR's in mine. stock crank, Keith Black flat tops.

went 11.24@123.25 a couple hours ago.

the motor in my car has been together for about 5 years now, and takes plenty of abuse. my brother had it before me and he was running a NX 150 shot on it and went 10.9@128 a few years ago with a differnt setup, but the same bottom end.

I had Eagle H-beams @ 900ish horsepower and had no problems.

The new motor has Carrillo I-beams though..

Another vote for Eagle. A friend of mine with a 555ci BBC runs them and makes 1150hp. They have been in the engine for three years now, shifting at something like 8500RPM. He takes them out every winter checks them and they have been perfect each time.

See Pat...go w/ the eagles and have them put the better bolts in and you'll be $$$. Good luck buddy!

I've got a set of Eagle 5.7" H beams with the ARP2000 bolts in them. Haven't run them yet, but they're supposed to be really good rods for the money. :)

So I understand that it is good to upgrade bolts in the Eagle rods, but what about the lunati pro mod rods? do those needs upgrading when you get them? And since oliver rods are argueably the best rods you can buy, I assume they come with good bolts....

in my old 396 i ran 6.0 Eagle H-beams with ARP bolts. saw 7500+rpm a lot and was trapping mid 140s.

in the current 383, 6.0 Eagle H-beams with ARP bolts
