2005 Mustang GT Pricing

HOLY GOD!!!!!

Check out this thread:
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=482082

A fully optioned GT is over 30k!!!!!!!!!!!

A guy ordered his for $31,700.

I must say though, the car really grew on me after I saw it in person. I hated the pics of this car on the internet and still hate the stuck on driving lights and teh WHEELS
But take off the driving lights, get some new wheels, and get it in a black or grey to hide the nose and body lines and it wouldnt be bad, APPEARANCE wise. Of course its still not adequate in power and handling and it would be hard to afford new wheels and tires after paying close to 30k!

Heres another link:

http://channels.netscape.com/ns/auto...clecars03-04_6

I'm really quite surprised to start hearing these numbers, of course we will have to wait and see the official MSRP, but these cant be too far off.

Read this article more closely and think it might be a bunch of crap. Believe teh stangnet thread though, those cars are actually ordered (overseas).

A guy ordered his for $31,700.
You DID notice that the guy is in the MIlitary and is stationed in SWITZERLAND... right?
He ordered every option in the book too...
$850 - Customized Leather with embroidery?!?!
$265 - Interior Color Accent Package
$370 - Anti Theft system
$1300 - Mach 1000 sound system?!?!
$1600 - He opted for an owner protection plan which extends the warranty to 7/75.
$175 - Overseas OPP Coverage
$733 - Overseas Freight charge
$450 - Delivery Point Processing
$276 - Customer Delivery
$625 - US freight charge
$1379 - 2005 Estimated Uplift (whatever the fluck THAT is?!?!)

And the list goes on and on...
I mean geez, the guy has $3638 in freight/shipping/prep fees, $2785 in optional equipment, and a $1600 warranty/insurance plan. All this alone busts $8023!!!

Notice the BASE price of the GT was only $24,059. IMO, that ain't bad.
But as with any carmaker, they are going to make a killing on the options list, and this guy went ALL-OUT. Cripes, there were 2 full pages of options! Side Airbags, Keyless, 2 power points, wheel upgrade, wheel locks, message center, leather wheel, brake, and seats... sheez Loise!

I guess I'm trying to say, HIS is not the best deal to critique for value, eh?

Re: 2005 Mustang GT Pricing

Yes I know all the options, but people like to say that the GTO can not be compared to the GT because the price is so large. Might have even been you who said this? It takes a GT with all those options (save a very few) to be compared to a GTO, which has all those options in its 32k price. Looks like its not going to be the $6000 dollar gap some thought it would.

Estimated uplift is a price added in to cover everyones A$$. If the Mustang actually sells higher than they quoted the guy then they will charge him that price, their loss. However if it sells for the same or less, he gets to keep that money. As I understand it anyways.

Plus you gotta factor in the 2005 GTO will have around 400hp with the LS2... compared to 300 from the GT. What now becomes the better value?

Makes you wonder how much a loaded up new Mach 1, or Boss, or whetever the end up doing above the GT is going to cost.... GTO looks like it may be the price leader over those, outright.

For under $25 grand....this car will sell like crazy.

BigAl, the under $20K V8 Mustang was an internet rumor circulating before the Chicago show.

Re: 2005 Mustang GT Pricing

I bet the vast majority of GT's will go for 28-29 k which is pretty damn expensive if you ask me and getting dangerously close to a 400 hp GTO which is a whole lot more car than a GT in my opinion. I know it has been said before but it seems like the price of cars is escalating at a faster rate than I ever remember.

oh, so now its a rumor. Ford fans were quoting Bill Ford in saying that there was gunna be a 20k V8 Mustang. I heard it after show and still hear it today.

Anyway, I doubt everyone will buy stripper, 25k mustangs, so I agree with Sneaky and saying that your average GT will cost above 27k. With leather and the other neat-o things, the car is gunna hit 30k with ease.

Hey Ford...get used to this look...

Don't remember Bill Ford ever talking about it. The rumor was, that it would be a Mustang with V6 trim and wheels...and the GT's engine for around $20K.

Doesn't make an awful lot of sense to offer a package like that, when Ford is currently inundated with orders for loaded GT's.

Don't remember it. Could you please provide links to "everyone" that said this? Thanks.

I guess it was all Ford-BS eh?
Ford BS? Get your story straight - was it "everyone" or was it Ford that was throwing around this "BS"?

Oh well, its still a nice looking car....in someone elses eyes.
Correct - Ford intended them to look nice to those that might actually be in a position to buy them.

Too bad the prices arent retro either?
Indeed. Hey, I wonder what a 1968 Mustang cost in 2005 dollars? Because you made that quote, I'm sure you know. Could you please share? Thanks.

But hey, for 32k, you can get the color changing guages...thats cool right?
Sure - will be a big hit with the High School crowd.

You heard it on this Forum? If so, quote it, please. Or did you hear it at a "show" (ie...your dreams)?

Could you provide the data you used to come up with this cost estimate? Please tell me it is not just more conjecture and Ford-hating.

Wow - is that your car?

Nah. Most folks here understand where you're coming from. No need for more silly statements.

Back to the topic at hand...

Will the MSRP of the 2005 LS2 GTO stay the same as the 2004 LS1 GTO? If so, and assuming GM "spices up" the look a bit, then it becomes quite a deal, IMHO. I do believe that it and the Mustang GT are after quite different target audiences.

He got that cost estimate roughly from stangnet post I linked, which is coming from people ordering overseas. I believe it is reasonable to assume these prices will be very close. I really thought a nicely optioned GT would be around 25-26k, but it does APPEAR that it may be more like 28-29k. We will see in a matter of weeks, correct?

The high school crowd might like it, but they sure cant afford it. For the terrible wheels and tires on the GT it sure is expensive.

Hey Bob you mind sharing some wisdom with me in this thread (I know you have lots): http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286224

Absolutely.

From what I've read (and that is all I have to go on), $26K MSRP is going to be about average for a 2005 GT - sans any dealer markups that are sure to be present on the first few cars we see.

"Terrible" is subjective, of course. I agree that the high school crowd can't afford it - but Mom and Dad can. Regardless, it was a play on words.

Re: 2005 Mustang GT Pricing

There is nothing attractive about those wheels and 235 tires are terrible for a sports car, you've got to agree with that.

Re: 2005 Mustang GT Pricing

If you guys would bother to read further down the thread on that stangnet post. You would see the guy really got it for

"Thanks for the Rebate 05 Mustang now $26882

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruffy,

Just called my ENCS dealer, I am now getting the rebate also, so I am getting mine for $26882.

Im glad you told us about it."

Its post number ten. Some price guaging was going much to likes of the GTO.
