dabez1 07-27-2004, 01:02 AM Since my car is out off commision for a while i took a cruise with my friend in his 98 z28(lid, exhaust, and programmed) and while cruising around a white 3rd gen t/a get next to us and signals to go to the freeway. At first my friend didnt want to go because he tought it would be a waste of gas not knowing it was a tta. We wont from about a 25mph roll, 3 honks and the tta was almost a car ahead of us (z28 is a A4, and tta was manual) and slowly it drifted to about a 2 car lead and just stayed like that until about 125mph. It was so funny my friend didnt know what to say, he coulnt beleive he lost to the 3rd gen t/a. So then get get of the freeway and the guy in the tta stops at a stop sign, and i ask what hes got and he just says "nothing special, its just a 89 turbo t/a" That car was sweet, i dunno if it was really stock, but i was surprised how well it ran.

Sad thing is that he is a very few mods away from running solid 11 second timeslips. TTA has to be my favorite F-body of all time.
dabez1 07-27-2004, 03:50 AM Just got of the phone with my friend and says he met up with the guy and are setting up races for this weekend. and it turns out that the tta was a A4. damn that thing pulled hard.

All 1555 production TTA's were auto's. Only 1 had a 6 speed and it was
a test car.
Car probable had a few mods, but not many. To give you
an example, I did something similar to a C5, from a 55 mph roll. Only
mods at the time were a chip, cat pipe, and a K&N. Not to shabby for
$125 in mods. ;)
NightWindDriftr 07-27-2004, 07:16 AM TTAs are sweet. good run!
91RSLT1 07-27-2004, 09:15 AM I love the TTA, they are amazing and can be made scary fast eaisly.
Steve Y 07-27-2004, 10:46 AM If the tta was bone stock the LS1 would have walked him. They only ran high 13s to low 14s at 98ish bone stock. But they respond very well to cheap simple mods.
Antz97ZNJ 07-27-2004, 05:48 PM Ive saw a one at etown that was stock and for sale making a few passes...was running consistant 13.8-9's...he definately wasnt stock
Blu91Z28 07-27-2004, 09:31 PM I've seen people posting low-mid 13's stock on 3rd gen sites. Not out of the realm of possibility when you consider it's basically a Grand National drivetrain, in a lighter and more aerodynamic body. Last one I saw at the track was running mid 12's on ET Streets.

Yeah, i'm sure that's true. I just meant the normal times for stock ones are high 13s to low 14s. Just like stock LS1s have gone 12s, but most run mid 13s stock with your average driver.

Car and driver got a 13.9 at 98 out of a stock GN and 13.5 at 102 out of a stock GNX. I would think the GN and tta would run about the same. Motor Trend got a 14.2 at 98 out of a stock tta. Nice stock and modded times!
BirchMan98z 07-28-2004, 09:42 PM I like the 6.6(400 ci) litres. Very capable cars if they were tuned right.

The TTA is a few tenths faster, it's not exactly the same motor.
Also, in regards to the orginal post that TTA wasn't a manual, unless he swapped in a stick which would be totally retarded..
95z28 -quicksilver 08-17-2004, 12:28 AM Thats really cool.. I have never even heard of that car until this post... Thats why I love this site.....
