Any headlight upgrades?

Does anyone know of any fairly cheap headlight upgrades?

Looking for something to replace the lights on my Z28, the stock lights are terrible, and I'm not looking to spend 700 on HID or whatever

you dont have to spend 700 on HID, i just got a HID kit off of ebay for 150, check out ebay or google HID conversion kits, most are less then 400 new.

I made my own upgrade for 100 bucks for 4 silverstars, a dremel and a little time.

Looks awesome at night now.
While there is a guy who sells housing that are already set up to put regular gm bulbs into the housings, you can do it yourself.

All you do is drill out the bulb out of the stock housing, make the hole a little larger and put a 9006 55w or 9006 65w bulb in there (same plug in as stock bulb)

I opted for 9005's in the lows and 9006's in the highs, which are the same ones as on any other gm vehicle, but the silverstars are very nice and white.

Do you have any pics of the silverstars? Maybe some comparison pics with another stock lighted fbody?

i got the piaa H4s. They take the same wattage but claim to emit the same amount of light as a regular 135/125 watt bulb, while drawing 65/55.

Once you install the "conversion kit", these bulbs screw in and out every time they need to be replaced.

Hella makes H4 conversion housings around $70US, come with everything & you get an awesome H4 bulb selections out there, I have the H4 housing & H4 HID system LOL :)

i put the silverstar high beams in my low beam housing and i still dont think they are bright enough!! a little bit brighter than a regular bulb...

This could go in the General Tech forum but since a lot of headlight upgrades are talked about in the Appearance Forum, I'll move it there where I think you'll get the most bang for the buck :)

Anyone know where to get headlights like the old Calloway C8? (almost like the current Z06 offering)

Anyone have pictures of their headlight mods they have done? I have seen the PIAA Conversion and I like it.. would be sweet to have it encased...

I assume you've got a 93-97 camaro since you're looking at the piaa upgrade, if so the Hella 90mm are always an option...or a combo like my setup :)
