Anybody know if polished AFS wheels have a coating on them?

I have a set of polished AFS ZO6 wheels on my car and I'm having a hard time cleaning them. They seem to get water spots like crazy. I was just curious if they have a coating on them, and what would be the best to use on them for cleaning. Right now I'm using a Meguiars product, but I'm open to any ideas. Hell if they have a coating on them, I'll just Zaino them.

I have the AFS ZR1 replicas in "polished" finish. They have a clearcoat on them and are virtually maintenance free. I keep them polished with Zaino, and they shed brake dust easilly. Appears the clearcoat is only on the "front" of the wheels, not on the back portion though.

Thanks Fred! So you just Zaino them like the rest of the car? Do I need to apply the initial coat that you only do once? Sorry I don't remember which number it is.

not all of them have the coating...with your wheel washed clean it should feel as smooth as if they were polished much like waxed paint, otherwise they aren't.

I used the Z-1 "lock" coat, then the Z-2 polish for clear coat. I think now you can get something called ZFX that you mix withthe Z-2 and you don't have to use the Z-1.

I also run Weld Pro-Stars at the track. They have no clearcoat, and at the beginning of each season I give them a quick cleanup with Mothers aluminum polish, then bring them to a very high luster with the Mothers Incredible Billet Polish. They look like chrome when I get done. About 1/2-way through the season I'll touch them up with the Billet Polish. But those wheels never get exposed to bad weather..... just a little smoke.... :D
