Torque Converter wiped out trany?

I jusy got the trany outa the car today(turbo 400) If u pick up the converter and tilt it one way then tilt it another u can hear one big thing move back and forth. Right befor it went u hered like a buizzing sound coming from the bellhousing. I droped the pan and it look like someone put some metalic flake in the trany fluid. was red but the bottom of the pan was black.

P.s IT was a B&M Holeshot 3000 converter , behind a 600hp big block

Well how old is the stuff? hard to say if they'll replace it or not.. But you can always give it a shot.. IMHO i wouldn't use a budget converter in somthing that large.. Too much at risk.. I.E Tranny!!! They aren't cheap.. Keep us posted on how B&M handles this though..

So, are you going to use this new POS T/C in a rebuilt trans and take your chances again? You get what you pay for. Cough up the money and get a real torque converter.

Re: Torque Converter wiped out trany?

I have a Vig. and think it's a very good converter. Free stall change(the first two years) if you don't get it right the first time. In my case the tech person was able to tell me where the car would brake torque to before the rear brakes would'nt hold, and they were right on the money. 2000 RPM and flashes to 3000 RPM.
Do a search though, there are many good converters out there that people have had good luck with that are a little cheaper than a Vig, Yank etc.

If this is for a TH400, then Continental is a good choice. They have a very good reputation.
