'86 V6 to V8 Engine Swap

Hey guys, I have something of a compilicated question. I'm not sure if its been covered before but since I have a couple of additional questions, I figured I would just ask the whole shebang.

We have an '86 Firebird (I know its not a Camaro, but I figured the same information would apply) with T-tops, an automatic transmission and a V6... The motor is totally not worth salvaging and the tranny slips. However, we have a Chevy 350 crate engine with a 4-bolt main that's pretty well built up, with nothing to put it in. What would we do to get this engine running properly in this car? I don't care whatsoever about emissions. Is a 5-speed swap feasible for this within the confines of a small budget? If we're going to stay with an auto, what do you guys recommend? TH400, TH700R4, 4L60E? We'd like to do the conversion ourselves so the simplest combination that will still hold up to the power (about 400 horsepower at the flywheel) would be ideal.

Thanks in advance for the help :D

ttt, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've yet to find any really competent Firebird forums. Sadly, the Pontiac F-Body was never as popular, even though the cars are functionally identical for the last 20 years or so of production.
