Steering wheel control....reinstallation?

How in the heck am I supposed to get the connector back into the steering wheel control so I can put it back in? Took it out and appart and wanted to check the buttons and make sure they all still work and I can't get it to plug in. Anyone have any tips?

Also, if my volume buttons don't click when you push on them, are they toasted?

Anyone at all?
