Need exact info on ls1 brake conversion.

I have a buddy who can get me some ls1 brake parts just calipers and caliper brackets and spindles or something.not sure for like 200 US.

I need to know exactly what parts are needed .Part numbers and some kind of pricing for them new would be appreciated also after all don't want to pay this used if they are same price new.But I am not very into this brake stuff and not sure what is needed.Do I need ls1 brake lines,..nuts ,bolts.I have some spare ls1 rotors and pads off my ls1 that I took off when I upgraded.

Thanks in advance guys.I searched a bit but like I said would like a complete guide to this.Have seen some posts but they seem non specific.

Do I have to mess with porportioning valves or master cylinders..

There arent many complete list, because for the most part, they arent necessary. TONS of salvage yards and others sell the whole conversion kit. It should come with LS1 spindles, hubs, rotors, calipers, and pads. I have no idea what a complete price would be for this whole setup, but i went to GM to ask them how much just the calipers were, and they said something to the tune of 150 for each caliper, so im pretty sure all new parts would run you a little more than 200. I got my conversion kit of Ebay last week and it has everything I need. However, there are a few things you should be aware of. Make sure the spindles you get arent all messed up and bent from being in a hard front end crash. Also, dont expect the rotors and pads you get to be ready to go on your car. You might need to either turn the rotors, or get new ones, and you should prolly get new pads no matter what. The LT1 brake lines should work for you, at least thats what ive heard, but dont know yet, i dont have mine on yet. Thats about all i got, so good luck ordering!

There is a company in Clevland OH that sells the complete kit with turned rotors for like $138 US plush shipping.

Hello, i'm also intrested in the ls1 conv. Let us all know if you order from the place in Cleavland and how that goes b/c I may order from them too. Can you get them for the rears as well cause it might look a little funny with smaller breaks in the back?

Yeah Rick is a great guy easy to deal with. But also not above getting messed up stuff.I got my kit from him and evrything seemed alright at first. But after the install found that the calipers where spread equally both sides. And they were off a 02' car with only 11K on it.
So I suspect that one of the techs there when retracting the piston during removal used too much force between pistons and outer caliper.

After install found to only be using the outer 1" of the rotor not the inner part at ALL. With new pads. And he turned the rotors.

But let me say this is par for the coarse when buying salvaged parts.Rick is a great guy and had he known I'm sure would not have sold these calipers to me.Good source for all kinds of parts.

Re: Need exact info on ls1 brake conversion.

One question about the brake lines...has anyone done the LS1 conversion using brake lines that DO NOT require that the brake line bracket be bent?

I think I remember someone saying that they used Earls stainless steel front lines for the front, but I wanted to be sure...

Thanks!
