New VW Bug turbo and Dodge truck go down

I was going up a steep hill and kept hitting stop lights. Every time this Dodge Fullsize extracab truck would hit it hard at the green and leave everybody in the dust. He was going about 75 up this steep hill with his a/c on. We slow down to about 50 because of a light, it turns green and we hit it again. I put it in 3rd, turn off my a/c and punch it. He keeps ahead of me for about 5-7 seconds then I go by pretty quickly. Too quick to read which motor he had in it. I think he had the Hemi or Cummins. Pretty quick truck. It took me a lot longer than I wanted to roast his butt. After I pulled ahead he fell back and didn't want any more. Another cocky truck owner, castrated.

I was going up another steep hill and this newer VW bug is flying up this hill about 85 mph. I keep with her (chick driving by herself) through some fast 70 mph turns and we come to a light. She is first at the light, other cars in the other lane. I pull up behind her. There is no badging on this car at all. No obvious muffler, nothing. I am assuming it is a turbo version. She punches it at the light and I give it about 3/4 to stay with her. I punch it and come up on her butt fast to show her she can't get away. She keeps accelerating to about 75 in a 50 zone. I back off about 60 and let her go. Next light is perfect. Two open lanes! What does she do? Pulls into the left turn lane! :mad: I guess she didn't want a fair race. :(

Rule of thumb is only race someone else on the street when you both want to. Don't just chase someone who's driving fast or something like that.

Good race with the truck.....but with the VW Beetle? Are you kidding? Id sure hope you would destroy it especially if its stock. I get cfars driving like that all the time and it definetly drives me nuts when they wont line up beside you.

are you sure it wasn't a 2.0L bug? those things only have 115hp i think.....:lol: j/k

Worste case scenario is a new 1.8 turbo which hammers out 180hp off the flywheel :D

There's a guy around here who drives one. It doesn't matter how much hp it has, it has a turbo, so it's automatically faster than something that doesn't have one.:p

Cummins turbo diesel trucks can run 12s w/o too much work. Turbo Bugs run 15s stock and mod very easily. These cars could have been quick. Besides they though they were bad a** and I showed them where they belong on the food chain.

I never though I couldn't beat the Beetle. Those things run pretty well, stock. The turbo ones run 15s. At this altitude they probably lose less power than I do. Besides, you throw a boost controller, intake and exhaust at them and I bet you have a 13 second car.

He said on my story well i raced a stage 2 neon and he left me 4 to 5 cars im suprise he did not keep up with you well steve first I have almost 100 more horses and I can drive my car dynoes 315 320 at wheel and his dynoes 230 240 250 the most.

I raced bike put slicks on my car and beat him 330 ft yea right.

I do not want to turn this into another one of those dumb kill section arguments. But i have never had a problem with Steve. Plus the street races at the track he was telling about did not account reaction time at all. Maybe he slept a little bit on the neon, maybe the LS1 slept on him. Who knows... I do not belive he just made **** up to make it up, he has been posting here way to long to resort to such a newbie tactic. I find his kill about the LS1 beliveable, he could be running 13.6's or so right now which is right on with some stock LS1's run.

Take a Supra motor and add a big turbo. take a Viper motor and add a big turbo... which has more horsepower? Why? Because there is no replacement for displacement. Yes, there are alternative ways to make horsepower given a particular engine size, but that's not a replacement for displacement.

If that wasn't a newbie post i dont know what is. A turbo supra vs a turbo viper isnt really specific. How much boost are each of them running at? Etc Etc. You cant just say "oh a turbo viper has more horsepower then a turbo supra.. because the viper has a bigger motor" :rolleyes:

It does not matter what a supra has or rx7 if you add a turbo to a v8 the horsepower is unreal, thats where displacement comes in. I forgot on one web site yea fastblackcar.com there is a ss camaro 97 twin turbo making 730 horses he is whitesmoking all the way down the track. Its just expensive to put turbo kits on v8 a lot of work. I think the viper twin turbo kits run at 25 pounds of boost and the vettes also. each car has its potential, because each car runs diffrent. And that is correct if steve is running high 13s I know my car with slicks can hit 12s And I know stage 2 neons dont run low 13s maybe steve fell asleep on the neon, if he had stage 2 steve should have won or reeled him in with his launching skills. So we are all in the gfs moms saturn L series, v6. We see an echo come flying fierce on our tail, we get to a light where she revs the hell out of her fierce 4 cylinder engine, we take the bait. Just for reassurance(like steve does) We turned the AC off, and closed the sun roof. Cant forget to turn traction control off either. The light turns green!!! We both punch it, 6 seconds later we are 30 mph, the fierce echo is at the rear bumper, we climb to about 45 mph and shut down, WHAT A RACE!!!

Funny how the fastest modular 4.6 is in the low 7 second zone but the fastest Viper is in the 8's.

That 1,000 hp Ecotec seems to kick some ass from small displacement as well.

Good lord, you have to spell out EVERYTHING for some people. You build both motors as required. The bigger displacement motor will put out more horsepower. The idea that a turbo or supercharger is a replacement for displacement is moronic. Why? Because you can add the same thing to bigger displacement motors.

Lets repeat this more slowly... forced induction improves volumetric efficiency, it does not take the place of displacement.

Having a nice fast car, and racing VW bugs are 2 totally different things. What exactly did you prove by racing a VW bug? It looks as if your trying to prove something by adding in that your super cool mustang can beat anything. I may have a slow, boring weak car, but there is nothing I can do about that, my parents simply wont allow me to have a z28 as long as I live under their roof, even if I have the money.

Maybe if I turn my A/C off and race your 4x4 I can win. :)

I know my car cannot beat anything. I have been going to the track for 15+ years. I learned long ago that you need a single digit 1/4 mile car to be one of the fastest cars on the streets, and you will still get beat from time to time. You better run faster than 6.0 at my track to be the fastest. I doubt you can beat the 4x4 even with your a/c off :). I remember those days of slow cars and the parents house rules :(

I dont care how good of a driver you are, there can always be a patch of gravel in which you lose control, and who says the person you are racing is a good driver? It just dosnt make sense to me. Yeah the days that im still in where the rents enforce the car I drive sucks, but they do it for a reason, my car is perfect for me, I dont need anything faster, and it has been the most reliable car out of most people I talk to. There are plenty of people I don't race that have slower cars than me. Sometimes they will try to race and I will accelerate so slow it looks like i'm in a 40 horsepower VW bug. I want to make sure they know i'm not racing and go brag to all their friends that they slay Mustang GTs. Racing isn't about being safe, saving gas, being efficient, etc (though I always try to keep it as safe as possible). It is about adrenaline, fun, etc. Whether it be at a track or on the street. I didn't buy a fast car to drive it like most of the old wankers around here with Vettes that go under the speed limit all the time. :mad:

Hey, I resemble that remark :) Well, not *under* the limit, but close to it, most of the time. I don't street race because while I know what I will do, I don't know what the other people on the street will do. Depending on what's around me and what's up ahead, I will punch it getting on a freeway, but otherwise, I know (based on the drag strip) what I can and can't beat (assuming they're stock or mildly modified).

You never KNOW you are going to win. People have hidden mods and anything can happen. It's amazing how many people don't know that certain cars are so much faster than others, I was just informing them. It does not boost my ego, I do it for the adrenaline rush and the fun. It's just a stupid car made from metal, plastic, and fabric (like all cars). It is not an ego boost, it just proves who has more money or interest in having a fast car. BarfGreen slow a** turd redheaded stepchild Camaro driver, it used to be mostly street kill stories in here until young idiots (like yourself) that followed F&F drove like morons and put street racing in the spotlight. The administrators re-named it "track kill stories" so they would not be sued or held liable for street racing accidents, convictions, etc. Track racing is also dangerous. Life is dangerous, don't bury your head in the sand and think it's not. I race only on deserted roads with no one else around.

None of the Mustang Websites have a kill stories section. Besides I like Camaros. Your fuel filter could have been clogged, you could have shifted harder, you could have shifted at different rpms, the barometer, temp. and humidity could have been different, you might have had more weight in the car for the slower run, you could have had a tailwind, etc. There are a lot of possible factors.

It is kind of hard to get a nice 60' on a track with no prep. Prep makes the world go round. How can you expect somebody to cut a nice 60' on cement with no prep on street tires? I think the majority of us on this site have ran a car that is significantly slower then yours just to prove a point. If you havent...then sorry i over generalized.

I think most people here would agree that a CAI will not give you 3mph gains. Other factors had to be involved. Comparing ET's from track runs on different days etc etc arent very acurate in portraying the difference a single mod made.

I was running on 225/50R16 street tires on an unprepared dusty concrete launch pad, when I got that 2.24. Guys with 245/50R16s in automatic Camaros could only pull 2.20s at best. I don't have times with the DRs yet. What does you turd gen run and what are the exact mods? You would simply wax my ass? Lets see your impressive mods list and timeslips! Ok, I will admit, I did street race, DID is the key word. For the most part, you are right, most of the stories on here are street and or street racing videos. Just listen to this, when I first got my license, and came on this forum, I read and watched videos of people street racing, and I accepted it, being a 15 year old kid driving a camaro, v6 or not. What you dont realize is 13 year old kids and up are reading these forums and are salivating over the concept of street racing, people like YOU and steve contribute to street racing acting as if it is acceptable, and that is hardly the case, street racing is completly unacceptable and ignorant. I hope you get a nice and heavy street racing ticket. ;)

I needed revenge from another VW bug that I needed 3/4 throttle to stay with a few months back. Despite what you think, VW bugs can be very fast. I've seen a new body style one running 10s at the track. :eek: I've seen an old body style one running 12s at the track. The new turbo ones come with 180 horses stock, mod very easily and weigh 2600ish lbs. I know I could beat a stock one. But how do you know if they have intake, exhaust, boost controller, etc? That's all it would need to give me a hell of a run! Same with the Dodge truck. If it was a Cummins turbo, they only need a few well chosen mods to run 12s.
