scott9050 07-14-2004, 10:18 PM If you were there you know how busy it was. Took me an hour and 15 minutes just to go from the road and through through tech. Line to get in must have been nearly a half mile long. I only got in 2 runs (and lost both times) But on my second run I got a new best. I ran a nice late 60's GTO on the first run and lost because he was on slicks. He got the holeshot on me and I was slowly reeling him in but lost. It was a 455. He ran a 13.30 at 100.67 on a 1.91 60 foot to my 13.52 at 103.94 on a 2.20 60 foot (I was spinning all the way through 1st). I only got in one more run because it was busy, but the car had cooled down nicely by then and I ran my best ever, a 13.42 at 104.68 on a 2.16 60 foot. I know I would have hit 105+ but I short shifted 2nd gear on the AOD and bogged the damn thing. I don't feel too bad with the times considering the density altitude was 1500 feet and my rear end and axles are shot, plus I weigh 265. This will be my last time to the track until these are replaced, I don't want one to give out on the top end. Considering that there were several LS-1's going about the same speed as me (I do not know what mods if any) I feel good about it. There was one LS-1 there though running 117+ traps. I was waiting for him and a 118+ mph '03 Cobra to run, but they never lined up together. It was overall a fun night except for the crowd.
Overall I do not think it is too bad a time for my AOD 5.0 hatch.
dreamer1q 07-14-2004, 10:44 PM I believe the LS1 that you speak of trapping 117 was our own Al. There was a group of about 10 of us from Michiganspeed there. Wish I would have known you were going, I would have found ya.
scott9050 07-15-2004, 12:18 AM I saw that there were a ton of F-bods there. 4-5 third gens and a ton of 4th gens.
TheNovaMan 07-15-2004, 12:18 AM What color is your Mustang?
I was there in my very dark purple 1970 Nova. My last pass of the night is my current personal best:
60: 1.823
330: 5.325
594: 7.748
1/8: 8.295 @ 82.40mph
1000: 10.889 @ 93.75
1/4: 13.108 @ 101.04
I could feel the wheels spinning a little off the line because the track was going away. I estimate it would have been a 1.79ish 60ft if it hadn't spun.

It was burgundy with a lighter red driver fender (from when someone backed into it and was replaced). My second and last run I pushed the car through the lanes and got my ass busted by a 9 second Vega. Car is a driving project, I'm trying to undo some of the damage of it sitting for 4 years.
Jay-Roll 07-15-2004, 01:07 AM Man I wish I would have went. Sounds like a blast. Great job on the times Scott. Get that 60ft down and you'll have some really nice ones. I think my buddy with the TA and I are heading out next Wednesday. I'll hopefully have a set of Nitto's on by then. We'll see what she does. I hacked off my cat. btw. I am pretty sure it was clogged. So no slowing me down lol.
scott9050 07-15-2004, 01:30 AM I may actually run my little auto quad 4 Sunfire next week with some smoking 16 second times it should produce:cry: :)
Jay-Roll 07-15-2004, 02:17 AM You should bring em both to the strip and get some people betting you. Run the sunfire all night and leave the stang in the back cooling. Get someone to bet you $20 bucks to run "your car". Then when they laugh and agree, say well I won't run with this car....I'll run with this car. And point to the stang. Graciously take their money as you whoop em with "your car" well your OTHER car. I should be there. I can't wait to hear how the Z sounds between the cement barriers at WOT with a dump about 2 ft from the block. She's gonna sound mean.
robvas 07-15-2004, 08:07 AM Stanton is only $10 this Saturday...come out!
dreamer1q 07-15-2004, 08:50 AM Stanton OWNZ Martin anyway. Freaking tech nazi's, last night was the last time I will go there to play. Bull dyke at the tech line tried to make me produce a set of arm restraints. She didint like the idea that if I did produce them I was going to run with the top down. They teched every car as if it were a 9 second car, and I am done with them. Stanton is all I will run from now on.

She was being a total bitch as usual. Takes me an hour and a half to get to Stanton though and Martin is 5 minutes away. I think I saw you run last night.
dreamer1q 07-15-2004, 12:03 PM Yeah, I hear ya. Stanton is a haul for you. :(
What we need is someone to take one for the team and ask her out ;)

Sounds like a job for #2.
TheNovaMan 07-15-2004, 01:07 PM She's unhappy with something in her life. Or maybe she's unhappy with her life altogether.
I can't believe she busted my chops about having only one spring on my back carb! I've got a solid 1:1 linkage with a total of THREE springs. If I put another spring on there, it'd just be too hard to press the pedal to the floor. Then she didn't even check my neutral safety switch.
robvas 07-15-2004, 02:03 PM Do they even have tech at Stanton? ;) The fastest car I've ever taken there was a 13.0x car and they didn't even care. They just make you fill your name out and let you run.
Jay-Roll 07-15-2004, 02:07 PM The tech guy at 131 2 Wednesdays ago when I was there was very very nice. Just asked if I had any power adders and if I had seatbelts. After my answer he gave the car a once over and said thanks and I went on. This chick sounds horrible.
QuickSilver02 07-15-2004, 06:50 PM Where exactly is Stanton? I've never been there before and would like to go when my car is finished. BTW, I'd be coming from Pontiac.

When I went to Staton they did not even look under the hood. I liked the fact that I only waited in the lanes no longer than 2 minutes instead of the 45 minute crap last night. The damn bikes got to run about 4 times for every one the cars could go through.

Stanton is Mid Michigan Motorplex, its about 20-25 miles north of Ionia, which is exit 67 off I-75, it is where the M events are held

robvas 07-15-2004, 10:10 PM I have a feeling it will be very packed Saturday since it's only $10. I hope it rains. :D

AL SS590 M6 07-16-2004, 01:07 AM The tech Nazi asked me what I ran when she saw the cage. I told her probably 11.5s. So she asked to see the bottle. I said no bottle, just heads and cam. She said no let's see the bottle. I had to reassure her 3 times that there was no bottle involved. I thought that she was going to make me start tearing thte interior out so that she could find my hidden bottle.
Ran 11.63, .65, .67 all at the high side of 116mph.

Martin was understaffed Wednesday because they didn't expect so many people... but that doesn't make 45 minutes in the tech line any less annoying.
The problem with the bikes is due to the way they run the staging lanes. Cars in lanes go in lanes 1-4, bikes in lane 5. Then the guy at the head of the staging lanes does 4-5 pairs from lanes 1 and 2, 4-5 pairs from lanes 3 and 4, and then a few pairs from lane 5 (bikes). There are so few bikes compared to cars, so they can get lots of runs in because their wait in the staging lanes is much shorter.
MISOMWS6 07-16-2004, 06:56 PM Nice times!! I don't think I saw your stang there and for obvious reasons....there were at TON of cars there. I agree with Q on that being the last time I go there also, I never did like Martin but wanted to go to hang out with other MIspeed people and get a few runs in, my best was a 13.2 @104.68MPH

We ran the exact same MPH:)
MISOMWS6 07-16-2004, 08:53 PM Ha, I didn't even notice that. I would have been cool to run against you because I didn't get one decent race, I think the closest was like 1 second or more behind, hell i'd rather get my doors blown off than kill rice all nite...that gets old:D
Becca_007 07-18-2004, 07:16 AM You complain about the tech chic, but she was getting through the cars way faster (at least 4 to 1) then the guy. Waiting at the gate stunk and waiting in the tech line was horrid; I still like it better than Stanton though. The stands, the restrooms, the concessions... the shorter drive; all top Stanton. As far as actually going down the track it's the same to me.
Guess we should have been wearing some nametags!
Also in Martin's defense: They told me they expected 70 cars or less, so that's what they were staffed for.
robvas 07-18-2004, 11:36 AM Stanton was PACKED. Seemed like half the cars there were trailered in, plenty of nice, fast cars.
There were 2 4th gens, a Silver LS1 and a red LT1, 14.0 @ 100 and 14.5 @ 96 or something....Hopefully it wasn't anyone from the board :)
It rained and they only ran 1/8th for a little while, but they did open the quarter up an ran until 11:00 which was okay.
I only made 1 full run and went 97.5 MPH, not to bad for my mods. We won't mention the ET though ;)
TheNovaMan 07-18-2004, 04:47 PM I went again yesterday (Saturday 7/17). Tech took all of 45 seconds. Wednesday I got 4 runs, Saturday I got 4 runs and would have gotten at least one more if it hadn't rained. Plus there was actual racing, which I think is cool. I don't think I'm going to go on a Wednesday again anytime soon.
BTW, check out my new PB in my sig. :D
Grover 07-18-2004, 08:37 PM Rock on Pete!!! That's an awesome ET for that MPH.
