? About 3M SMR & Zaino

Got some parts painted, put them back on the car, and then took the car back to get the parts wet sanded. I noticed a couple days after I got it back that there were some scratches. I applied Z5, even though the 3m was suggested here, just to see what it would do to them. The spoiler looks fine, but the top part of the rear bumper, the part you could theoretically sit on, looks bad in certain light. It looks like it has horizontal scratches completely across the surface, and in a few places, up near the tail panel, there are places that look dull in certain light, kind of hazy like a smear. Will the 3m SMR w/ a 10 inch 2000 rpm buffer and foam pad take care of this? If so, do I need to remove the Zaino before doing this with alcohol/water? Thanks!

I've used 3M's 'Swirl Mark Remover', as well as their 'Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored Cars', after I've had Zaino on the car.

I don't believe you need to remove the Zaio prior to using the 3M product. If you choose to remove the Zaino though, you should use 'Dawn' liquid soap.

I've used the 3M by hand on some minor imperfections, and it has always worked well for me. I also make sure to apply Zaino to the area which was polished as a final step as the 3M contains "no wax".

Dawn won't remove the Zaino. The 3M being an abrasive will remove any Zaino you have on the car.

What should I try then?

A light compound will do it if it. You may have to do it more than once to get everything out. I would go back to the bodyshop and make them do it.

^What he said. I wouldn't try to remove sanding scratches without the proper equipment/experience because it just isn't going to happen. Especially with a 10" orbital.

I am going to call over there tomorrow to see when I can get the car back in.

Listen to ZaneO, he knows what he's talking about. This is one of the reasons you should always pay in credit card.
