which car is faster?lovescamaros25 07-13-2004, 11:16 PM whats faster in the 1/4 mile?A 2002 camaro ss or a 2003 mach 1 mustang. John1975 07-13-2004, 11:35 PM The ss, but anything can happen at the track. bombd84 07-14-2004, 12:49 AM last time I went to the track there was a stock mach 1 there running 14.0-14.3 It was 90* and 80* humidity. LT1ponykilla 07-14-2004, 10:36 AM The 02 SS would be faster. Especially on the street. Antz97ZNJ 07-14-2004, 12:46 PM The LS1 will normally trap more but there almost identical in the 1/4 mile TRICK95 07-14-2004, 02:56 PM Assuming it was an actual Mach I, it should be close, but once again, ya never know. They run pretty good from the factory. And I believe they're lighter than the fbody as well. Steve Y 07-14-2004, 08:27 PM The SS has a slight advantage, on the order of 2-3 carlengths in the 1/4 mile everything else being equal. ULTIMTEORANGESS 07-14-2004, 09:18 PM m6 ls1 is faster. until i see some conclusive proof im not sold on mach 1s hitting 12s STOCK. if you have any please show me. Steve Y 07-14-2004, 09:41 PM Originally posted by ULTIMTEORANGESS m6 ls1 is faster. until i see some conclusive proof im not sold on mach 1s hitting 12s STOCK. Exactly. Fastest stock Mach 1 by Evan Smith was a 13.1x at 105ish. He ran a 12.89 at 108ish in a bone stock LS1. It took Paul Svinicki DRs to get a very high 12 out of an otherwise stock Mach 1. I agree that the LS1 has the slight advantage, although 108 mph trap vs 105 trap is a little more than a slight advantage. Dan Yes from high speeds the power and aerodynamics of the Camaro really shine. The Mach's gearing helps it in the lower speeds. LS1s and mach1s can both run low 13s. Its a drivers race. Why dont you ask this question on mach-1.org so you can get the other sides opinions. I bet every other post will be mach1 mach1 mach1 ;) 97bowtie 07-15-2004, 02:54 AM Originally posted by Garbage In the 1/4 they seem to be about even. LS1s and mach1s can both run low 13s. Just because a lot of owners think their Machs are faster doesn't change the truth. Ricers think they can take Stangs and Camaros. Does that make it the truth? Not hardly.
