how would I go about reinforcing my stock torque arm? What thickness sheet metal, what kind of sheet metal, where do I weld, etc. Anyone have a picture of a boxed/reinforced Torque arm?

I reinforced my original torque arm. I used a length of 1/4 thk x 2" flat bar and ran it for most of length of lower part of the arm. At same time I also relocated the front mount to the body.

Can someone explain how it works? I know it has something to do with exerting force downward to the ground through the tires... but how? =)

Heh... Both Jordon Musser and myself welded flat washers to the mounting holes and it works ;) ... Haven't broken another stock arm - and it's been months!! <- it's a record :p

i'm under the impression that jordan has made all his passes on his original torque arm, adn rather than shell out ~$500 for an aftermarket one, I want to reinforce mine.

if his can take 500+ hp, it could certainly handle my measly $350 hp.

500+? More like 700rw :) I am planning on doing exactly what Shawn and Jordon did to their T/A myself.

I want to see pics of how folks moved their torque arm mount off the tranny....

I have some ideas.....but I'd like to see what others have done. I think slonomo did something like this to his once.

What I'd really like to see are pics and data on a 4th-gen stocker's setup....

Like I said up there. I too would like to see some pic's. I also have an idea of what I want to do but would like to see what others have done.

Sorry, no pics. What I did was lay the flat bar along the lower section of the arm and just tip it in which formed the "box". As far as the front mount set up. I just made up a couple brackets from flat stock I had and did what I had to to mount them to the body and then position the front location of the arm with the suspension at normal ride height.
