blackblur1996z28 07-11-2004, 10:07 PM When I got done washing and drying my car today and got ready to wax it, I noticed that when I take my fingers and run it across my paint it feels rough like sandpaper!!!! I immediately took some of my Bug and tar remover to it, thinking it was tree sap but it didn't come off. I've tried everything including washing it two times more and waxing it with Meguires Gold hoping it will come off. It's also all over my glass as well. When I rub it really hard on my glass it starts to come off. How can I get this stuff off? Please help!!!!!!!!!!
moparman 07-11-2004, 10:33 PM I'd try a clay bar before moving on to more aggressive compounds.
gav'spurplez 07-11-2004, 11:20 PM definately would go with clay.
Cmr0z28 07-12-2004, 12:41 AM Clay bar. :)
PDCamaro318 07-12-2004, 04:16 PM agreed, go with a clay bar and then let us know what happens.
blackblur1996z28 07-12-2004, 05:00 PM Never used the clay bar before. What steps do I take for the best results? How long will it take? Thanks for all your replies!!
SSMOKEDU 07-12-2004, 05:16 PM I'd try clay as well.
I can only comment on using the Zaino clay bar as Zaino is all I use. You could check out their site, www.zainobros.com, for some info. :)
As for a time frame, it usually takes me about 45 min. to clay my SS. (I'm anal, and sure I'm spending too much time :))
Cmr0z28 07-12-2004, 06:57 PM 45 minutes to an hour is average.
I'm disappointed with Zaino clay as are many others. Meguiar's, Mother's, Clay Magic, they're all great.
Here is a very good guide to claying:

joecool72 07-12-2004, 07:05 PM Clay all the way.
I got brake dust on my rear end, bad build up, too. Felt the same, really gritty, even after washing it. Clayed the area and it's now coming out perfect again. You gotta have patience with it and do the area a couple of times over to get it looking and feeling good.
blackblur1996z28 07-12-2004, 09:23 PM What does the clay bar do to the paint? This stuff is all over the car including the windows. It's really greasy feeling. I must have picked it up while driving cause my wife parks right next to me and her paint is smooth as silk. What else do you guys suggest after the clay to make my black car gleam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest a full detail. I would wash it real good, then clay bar, then wash again, then polish it, then use NXT wax and then do all the other normal stuff such as blackening the rubber all the way around, blacken your tires, clean your windows. all the good stuff.
gav'spurplez 07-13-2004, 01:53 AM definately, polish and then wax after the clay bar. if you are using megs products, i would say # 7 glaze and some nxt. :D
blackblur1996z28 07-14-2004, 08:32 PM Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to try the clay, then #7 Megs, then NXT. For the guy from vegas, I go to the terribles on sunset if you want to meet up to help. Thanks
Cmr0z28 07-14-2004, 10:46 PM Good luck, cars gonna look great after #7 and NXT. :)
