Whom do you recommend for magnetic letters/class?

I'm interested in some magnetic numbers/letters. Any one have any suggestions?

I went to a craft store and bought a sheet of white (my car was black) magnetic material. I then made letters and numbers (one per page) to the proper size in MS Word and printed them on a printer. I went to the 'fridge, got a six-pack and turned on the NASACAR Busch Series race. I cut them out and traced them onto the magnetic material, then used scissors to cut out the numbers. A six-pack, a Busch race later - good numbers. They were used for three years, including Time Trials (+130 mph), before I sold the car and have now permanent numbers on my current car.

My brother-in-law now uses them on his CS Miata but cutting/modding to make a "C" out of the "E" that I had. I had a full set of 1, 3, 0, F, S, E, P, D, T

You are aware that the doors on your Camaro are plastic?

I made some letters from white magnetic sheets. They look really good. Yeah I'm putting them on the rear quarter panel behind the door. Those are made of metal.

I'm looking for a good set of magnetic numbers too. I wanted to get the number panels you get at soloperformance (http://www.soloperformance.com) but these are 12 inches high. I originally put 8x11 magnetic sheets bought from staples horizontally on the back metal panel on my camaro, but those were useless after one race and they would still need tape on the corners.

I'm wondering if these will fit on the rear panels and stick without needing tape. I heard these are thick magnets so they sound like they stick well. Tape is hurting my paint too.

I was wondering if anyone tried these number panels or just bought each number separately and how they work.

If you can hold off till the 27th, I can let you know how my homemade numbers will work. They look great and seem like they'll hold up pretty well. I'll see if I can get some pics up.

My next event is the 25th. DOH!

You are aware that the doors on your Camaro are plastic? ummm... not plastic... but the metal skin is laminated so much a weak magnet won't work anyway.

Rear 1/4 panels are good spots though... all steel.




If you really want to use the doors though, you can try adhesive or a staic-cling that can hold up to 100+mph winds.

We've had problems keeping magnets on our 1/4 panels at the drag strip... right around 80 mph they try to make like a bird. Just depends how strong the magnet is, how clean the surface is when you apply them, and if you use any scotch tape on the leading edge to keep the front lip flush with the car. ;)
