Some times when you try and put 97 and newer F-Body wheels on 96 and older F-Bodys, there is an interference on the back wheels that prevents them from slipping over the axle hubs, unless you open up the center hole in the wheel slightly, to clear the oversize axle hub. Doesn't prevent you from using the wheels, but many people buy the newer wheels, and panic (or force them on) when they find the rear wheels do not fit correctly.

I'd never open the centers up on a wheel. My Z06's I just bought did what he is talking about. I took a Dremel, about 45 minutes, and ground the hubs down. Very small chance of damage when compared to opening the wheel center and possibly chipping/cause to start peeling of the chrome.

Nothing to worry about.
