2800 stall with 2.73

I have a 2800 stall sitting around waiting to be installed, but I don't think I will have the money to do the gears. So would there be anything wrong with doing a 2800 stall with just 2.73 gears. Has anybody done this?

Lets put it this way. I went from barely spinning at all(maybe 1-3ft at the most) off the line with stock stall to turning them for around 30ft shifting into second and spinning for another 10ft after my vig. 3000rpm stall. Yeah I think you'll be fine.

PS. FYI although spinning the crap outta my tires didn't help me with acceleration whatsoever it DID show me the stall was definately doing it's job. In the higher rpm range staying in the powerband(which an upgraded stall will do) is where I made up for all that tire spin.

That is what I did. I purchase 2400-2800 TCI Converter and I totally felt the difference. After a month or so I installed 3.42 gears and that made it even better.
