Pontiac's Advertising stepping it up?

I've already seen more commericals for the GTO than I ever did for the Firebird/Trans Ams. Maybe they got the idea that that was a main reason those cars went under?

Anyway--my favorite is the stoplight one. "Worth the wait."

Good stuff, those new GTO's rock!

The first time I heard the GTO radio ad, I turned it way up and got goosebumps. The announcer talking (just barely) over the car running through the gears and shredding the tires was bad ass.

I hate that thing they call the GTO, is looks like a re-styled 2 door Grand Prix at best, with a mild LS1 engine. It's a shame that thing is what Pontiac calls a sports car.

and sports car..well lets put it to you this way its got BMW beat SEVERLEY in every matter when comparing the cars head to head..yes BMW..and a sports car..no its a Muscle Car!

quality is best ever ina GTO..what more do you want..just a little styling goes a long way nad in 2005 it is changing :D

the advertising is great, the 2005 car is gonna be even better.. ls2 400hp, even with 350hp thats enough for 13 second quarter miles... I hope they keep up with the great commercials and get more cars over here to sell...

Hrmm... its funny because back in the old days when the early GTOs were cruising the streets they clearly stood out compared to the rest of the pontiac line up! :rolleyes:

man some people.....they just don't get it. This argument is getting too old.

EDIT: to respond to the original thread, I love the new advertising gig they're on. My personal fav so far and I haven't seen the beginning of it...its obviously the review of someone's 3 car garage. already has a grand prix and i guess a grand am i'm not cuz i got the commercial halfway through...

camera pans out to an empty middle third stall, and the gto comes screamin in with an e-brake turn....then backs into the garage. :bow:

I hit their website immediately after seeing the ad to check out this "275HP GXP." Low-and-behold it's a V8 Bonneville. Never thought I'd see such blasphemy but there it was. Good stuff Pontiac.

I'm gonna try that e-brake slide into my garage tomorrow...fo' sho! :p


NOTE: Explain this "mild LS1" comment. How can something be "mild" when it has the highest HP of any LS1 car (tied with the Vette).

And considering its faster than the fabled Judge...

I really think the anti-GTO feeling is misplaced. It almost perfectly compares to the original. Unless of course you have the common misconception that the musclecar years were nothing but over-the-top 12 second tire-shredders. :p
