A quote from Warren Johnson, printed in National Dragster. Warren was explaining why he didn't qualify for the Englishtown (NJ) Nationals two weeks ago:
There's a problem with the car, and its somewhere between the front bumper and the rear bumper. We just haven't found out what it is yet.
Ever feel that way? :)
I understand the real reason he's not making any improvements at this time, to keep up with Greg Anderson HP levels, and the suddenly improved Grumpy Jenkins engines, is because he's busy working for GM on the 3rd iteration of the DRCE block.
Also an interesting feature in the previous National Dragster about the widespread, complete teardowns on Pro Stock engines following the Columbus and E'town events, apparently looking for super light weight beryllium parts..... none were found. In fact, all engines met tech. As a result though, new "minimum" weights have been set for the rotating assembly, to try and keep everyone on the same footing.
