I have a 00 SS , and i was wondering what size the stock pipes are on the exhaust system. I have Mac headers with the cat'd y-pipe, MTI lid, power programmer III, 160 stat, and the pipes are stock but they had a different muffler welded onto the pipes. I dont know what kind of muffler it is, but it sounds pretty good. I am wondering if the stock piping, whatever size it is, is holding me back some on performance and flow.i know it obviously will be some but how bad?

SS's had options where you could get 3 inch exhaust right from the factory. Since you dont know what youre car came equipped with, youll have to measure. Either use a caliper, or wrap a string around the pipe and measure the circumfrence. Divid by pi to get the diameter.

Hmm thanx man. I never would have thought about that. I guess if its 2.5" then ill probably be getting a cat back.

Well i went out there and measued it it was 3" give or take a few tenths, so i guess it should be sufficient. Now i need to decide on a muffler. I dont want Flowmaster, I had a flowmaster Catback on the LT1 and didnt like it. Hmm any thoughts?
