And once the ancient Cavalier/Sunfire and S-10/Sonoma/Blazers work there way out of the system (3 year sample) I think GM will be right there fighting for #1 overall. I am willing to bet they account for a large number of the issues.

It has been around long enough for most of the kinks to be worked out. Is the interior heavily plasticized and cheap? Yep, but it's solid basic transportation. :thumb:
And Buick is often overlooked in all the hype about Lexus et al. :thumb:

Between the horrendous depreciation and laughable fit and finish, a Buick does not deserve comparison with a Lexus.

Rich people who spend money on more expensive cars such as Lexus's, are more likely to complain as they expect more.. Having lexus ranked 1 with Toyota, is really really good signal of what GM has to strive for.
Having buick number 2 does not surprise me, how often, or how high are hte expectation of retired folks driving their buick century?

The problem with "quality surveys" is that they are just that....surveys. Import owners tend to be so enamored with their car's reputation for quality that they ignore squeeks and rattles or more serious problems. Remember Toyota engine sludge? There are anecdotes littering the internet about how "my neighbor owns a Honda and has had a lot of problems with it but he always tells me it's a great car". The best was Red's tale of a switch that was identical in both a Chevy and a Toyota in a joint-venture platform (don't remember the names of the cars)...the Chevy owners always complained about it breaking but the Toyota-badged owners reported something like 80% fewer failures. :lol:

Well, all of the older people I know are the most picky people in the world. If anything sounds or drives remotely suspicious, they bring the car in to "see what's wrong". So I don't know if it is correct to say that they will just let problems slide.

If this is the case, explain how Lexus is #1, and Porsche is #3, and BMW is #5....

exactly. Work at any service desk, and if there is a slight hum that they havent heard before, bet your arse that they are coming back in the next day.
