I am planning on purchasing strange 3.42 #2 series gears and a master bearing install kit from gearsareus.com. I think this is a good deal for only 300 bucks. Am I crazy or is there a better cheaper way to go about getting new 3.42 gears??

the first thing you should ask yourself is do you really need strange gears. strange makes their gears top notch. i mean they handle 6-7 hp easily. pro drag racers use em. i mean unless you are making about 500+ rwhp i cant really see why you would need strange gears. unless you are building a completely bulletproof rear end you dont need strange gears. go with richmond or genuine gear.

I've got Strange gears for the 2 series carrier. The price wasn't much different form any other brand and they're not that noisy. From my experience with them, I'd say go for it.

Personally I think Strange (US Gear) makes some of the best gears out there. I had a set of 3.73 in my 93 and never had a problem with whine.
