Loose steering column

I got in my car today and my steering column is very loose all of a sudden. I can rotate the column and wheel about an inch in every direction. I remember seeing a website around but can't find it. Has anyone had this problem? How hard is it to fix?

Go to http://home.t-online.de/home/O_Scholz/steering.html. This a very good illustration about how to tighten up a GM steering column. Better use thread lock on the tilt bolts or they'll loosen back up soon.

I've done this job. Just bey VERY carful with the bearings in the column! Don't lose one or you will be cursing up a storm!

My first time through it took me about 1 hour of actual work, not including the research I did.

Oh good, I was expecting 2 just to get it off. I'm excited now, just need a steering wheel and turn signal.

So, how did the job turn out?

I bought my camaro like this the whole column would move toward the top and the floor board like two inches, and when I would drive sometimes the car would shut off(not good!!!) I tore it down and there are some torx bolts that go from column to dash, those were loose, Wish I could figure out how to get that pesky high beam rod back in right????

I also have a detached steering column in my laundry room if you can't figure it out from the pictures. might take me a bit to figure out how to post a picture thought.
