Broke the damn slave off
Broke the damn slave off
Just got back from a 6 hour wrench fest on my car. Few of my buddys and I did the M6 conversion on it. Everything was going fine, we were checking the wiring, and pumping the clutch. Well, the pedal was hard, so my bro gave it a few more pumps and SNAP....the damn slave broke off the housing. Once I get it out of the way, the fork is actually rubbing against the inside of the fork housing cover. Anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong. I dont get it, it all went together like a glove fits a hand. Now I gotta get a slave and try and figure out what is wrong before I pump that sucker again
I had about the same problem a couple days ago.
Your problem is the clutch fork isnt engaging the throw-out bearing of the clutch correctly. with my Spec IV the throwout bearing wasnt perfectly round, so i had to turn the engine over a little bit until it would line up.
Just keep turning the engine and trying to push the fork up in, when it is correct it will kinda of "snap" right up in and will have a solid feel to it. When it is in correctly there should be about enough room for your finger inbetween the end of the fork and the housing, and the end of the fork should be an inch or so away from the front of the housing, if you understand what im saying.
I had the same problem, blew up one slave by pushing in the clutch without it hooked up, then bent the pushrod on another from not having the fork engaged correctly.
and as a guy who does alot of clutches told me, if you push the clutch and it is solid, your done pushing on it
good luck, keep trying
