Nitrous not living up to expectations...

Well, I bought a used kit...yeah, probably not the best idea, but a complete wet kit for $225 was too good to pass up.

Well, the car just doesn't seem to be as fast as it should be. I am running a 150 shot and was BARELY able to pull on a friends LS1 car from a roll. His car has only ran 13.0s at 110 - 111. My car has gone 13.6 @ 104 n/a. Where would be the first place to look as to why this kit doesnt seem to be delivering all the power it should?

first thing to look at is bottle pressure. then make sure both solenoids are opening. then make sure you have the right jets

Bottle pressure was at 1000psi and I know the solenoids are opening atleast, but don't know how to tell if they are opening all the way. I have a 62 nitrous and 33 fuel. I just looked up the pill settings and looks like my fuel is smaller than most recommend.

Something is wrong cause I am running a 175 shot and when I hit the button it feels like another car ramming me in the rear end.

Yeah a good friend of mine who helped me hook up the kit has had it on a few of his vehicles and it is always a DEFINATE difference while spraying. In my car even when I had the 100 shot pills or 150 shot pills it just isnt too big of a difference. (sometimes thinking...is it sprayin??) Not what it should be. A 60 shot that my buddy has on his honda is making more difference on that car than the 150 does on mine.

Just trying to think of all the possibilities...would it matter how far away the nozzle is? I am thinking that would only affect how hard it hits. I have the 1LE elbo and have the nozzle going in the bottom where the silencer fits on the stock elbow. Maybe 4-6" away from the TB. NOS solenoids, NX nozzle and jets.

Have you pulled your spark plugs? What spark plugs are you currently running?

I would jet it down to lower power levels until you figure out your problem, 150 is up there for trouble shooting. What fuel pump are you running and are you running a fuel pressure safety switch?

Did u change your plugs? What are your plugs gapped at?

Yeah, i have definately decided not to spray the 150 anymore with it running the way it is. I might not even spray it anymore at all. I am running NGK TR6's gapped at .035

you need to check you fuel pressrure while spraying.....
i would get a dyno with a/f, that would you alot....

FWIW my friends 02 trans am M6 with bolt on pulls on me from a 70 mph roll....he runs low 13's at 105, my time in sig...explain that one :D
ls1's are stupid fast from a roll......

Hmm...well, I am going to guess that the car just has a few problems that I may need to iron out that don't concen the nitrous. I'll look into the fuel pressure thing. No dyno's nearby with a wideband...closest is little rock I think, but not sure. Either way I wont be sprayin her for a while until I find something out.

what about scanning for KR, detonation and alot of timing retard will make it feel slugish

Amped96

Have a scanmaster. No KR while spraying.

Check your solenoids. Where are they mounted. Mine ran the same way when it was first installed. Guys installed the solenoids close to my headers and it was causing them to get hot, and making mine run the way yours is.

Hmmm...mounted down low on the radiator support. (to be hidden) Think the heat off the radiator is messing with them??

Where else could we mount them where they would still be semi hidden but away from heat? What about near the headlights?

Make sure your bottle is mounted correctly. (should be anywhere from 15-30° tilted upward, the n2o line out of the bottle should be facing directly down)

One thing you can try is pulling the nozzle out of the elbow and hold it facing away from you while someone hits the solenoids. If a sh*t-load of white spray comes out, the kit is working fine, but it also means that your mixture isn't correct or you have engine problems. If only a lot of air comes out, the bottle isn't filled right. If it only leaks out, then the solenoid isn't opening correctly or your line is plugged up somewhere.

We tried the kit with the car off and the nozzle in the air...nitrous is definately coming out. I just don't know what my motor is doin with it. hah.

I described to Tiago how much nitrous came out when we had the nozzle in the open air and he said it didn't sound like it was enough. Maybe my solenoids aren't doing all they should...might get some new ones.

i run the 63/33 with a compucar setup. stock runs 13.6 @ 102 last night went 12.056 @ 118.46 question for you. you will definately feel a difference. question for you. do you have the nozzle point at the TB? if you have it pointed away from the motor, then it is spraying against the flow of air. www.stealthram.com/2000pontiacformula.html

why bother hiding it? just keep the hood closed.

If you got a nitrous filter - make sure it isn't clogged

No expert by a long shot but I swear it sounds the same as mine. Drive it around for awhile and afterwards check to see if the solenoids are hot.

don't just check for the solenoids to be hot, the make sure the nitrous line itself is away from heat. or insulate it.

i had a problem with the line/solenoids getting hot, and without a purge i think i was getting vaporlock, because the nitrous would come on and go off as if it had airbubbles or something.

i moved all the lines as far away from heat as possible, and insulated them......no more problems.

I would possibly send the solenoids off to NX and have them taken apart and gone through. You can call them and they will probably do this for a small fee. I know compucar has a lifetime gaurrantee on their solenoids. To the guy that said he was running compucar is that the plate kit? I have the 63 and 35 jets and I can't find out for sure what shot that is.

those are for 150 shot. i just moved up from there to 76/46 for my 200 shot. it netted me 11.97 @ 118 sunday.
