best launching RPMsCamaroSS30thAnn 06-15-2004, 01:37 AM car has everything in sig what can i launch my car at with stock converter in an automatic? Stephen 87 IROC 06-15-2004, 08:45 AM idle to 1000 rpm. MarkyMark 06-15-2004, 03:36 PM if you cant get traction then I would say just go off idle and then feather it until you have traction and then floor it. If you are getting good traction then I would stall it up (power break) up until just before the tires are breaking loose and then let it rip. Just takes practice though, document what you did each time and the resulting 60 foot and et (I tell you this, but the reality is that I'm too lazy to do it :D ) Just experiment and youll find the best rpm and way to launch it eventually. CamaroSS30thAnn 06-15-2004, 03:36 PM anybody else?? i want a stall but its gonna have to wait for now yeah im too lazy to do it too....ive tried it...my tires always brake loose a little above 1000 rpms....when i get new tires that may change ...when i finish my suspension i might not even have to worry about launching rpms till i geta stall rskrause 06-15-2004, 10:41 PM Originally posted by CamaroSS30thAnn anybody else?? i want a stall but its gonna have to wait for now yeah im too lazy to do it too....ive tried it...my tires always brake loose a little above 1000 rpms....when i get new tires that may change ...when i finish my suspension i might not even have to worry about launching rpms till i geta stall A higher stall converter will just make launching without wheelspin WORSE, not better. Stephen 87 IROC 06-15-2004, 11:28 PM From what you have listed in your sig, you're not going to need much more than a stock stall. A mild 2000 stall converter would be more than enough unless you plan of doing a lot more to the engine. Too much stall with a relatively stock cam/heads/highway gears/etc will probably hurt performance. Skip that, get a vigilante 3000 or 3200 and some drag radials. .5 sec can be shaved off, but your rearend will be a ticking time bomb. no sense in even messing with a 2000 stall tc.....would be a waste of time. CamaroSS30thAnn 06-16-2004, 12:04 AM well LT headers are gonna be in the short future.....and then in a long rime im foing heads and cam and possible SC but stock for now is fine? Yea stock is fine....... im stock right now as far as tc. I think it is neccesary that you get one when you put a cam in though. | ||
