I just read a thread from someone on here runnings high 10's with only boltons and a cam in an lt1. Many people were congratulating him on it too. Is this true??? Unbelieveable. I hope I can do that :)

That is fantastic if someone is doing that... Of course I find it really hard to believe but on the internet all things are possible. Also, if you take out enough weight it could certainly be done.

I doubt it, a Cammed/Bolt on only LS1 did that in one of the recent HotRod magazines. Except it weighted in the 2800# area

LS1 yes, LT1 naturally aspirated no. Best I've seen cam only, LT1 wise, is Frank95Z with 11.4's in good air.

Neil my car is light but not ls1 light. Last time I weighed my car it weighed 3327 with me in it. I ran 11.40 116.59 with a 1.48 short time at that weight in 60 degree weather. Thats with stockheads na. When i had it dynoed Geoff at Thunder said it was way lean but it runs well in the heat that way. Next time I get some really cold weather I will richen it up and I believe i can run 11.20's how it sits. Frank95z

Frank, i'm curious about something...
what is your definition of stock heads?
never been removed stock heads, stock eliminator "stock" heads or something else "stock" heads?

:)

In Sept. 2004 High Performance Pontiac i just got It has 97 firehawk that ran 10.29@129 in the Stock Eliminator class.

This with stock heads(valve job only) and a stock lift but higher duration cam, And a stock 48mm TB. It made 449rwhp like this:eek: More a race car than a street car but i was impressed

Maybe with a TH350 and a transbrake. I have "heard" (internet talk) of stock lift cam, stock head LT1s going 10s, but have never seen one to verify.

I think you're absolutely correct. But you would have to really completely strip it to get the weight low enough.

My car ran 11.42 with stockheads never removed from car. I have run 11.40 flat with heads that were off car but just with just a stockvalve job,no porting,no decking ,no bull. My car is classed a street car I can jump in it and drive anywhere. It has a stock transmisssion and lockup converter and gets 20mpg on the highway. Also has stock shocks, suspension,k member. I have removed airbags but till this car i never had airbags before:D Frank (not a stock eliminator car)95z:D

My 93 z ran 12.2 (Orlando florida; 35 feet above sea level) in somewhat good air with a 230 x 236 cam, 1.6rr, Jethot LT 4 pt cage stripped down to 3000 pounds w about 5 gallons of gas and me NOT in the car!
The rear gear was 3.23 and a Turbo400 and a JW 4500 stall, therefore the sixtyfoot time was 1.73 (not good).
PCMFORLESS tuning had the AF ratio perfect.

SO.... if I had 4.10 gears or maybe even 3.73 it could have given me 2 to 2.5 tenths, I might have squeezed a 11.95.

Tens? on A NA; nah.

Also, some people consider 'bolt ons'; pistons, rods, crank, etc, etc. And you actually do bolt them on. A better term would be "no parts were modified that touch oil, other than the cam shaft and RRs"

Jim I'm surprised you didnt hit 11s with that set up. Sar2K on here hit 11s bolt ons, only mod of his that touched oil was the rockers. Theres a couple cars on here that ran 12.20-12.50s with true full bolt ons. My goal is a 12.50 full bolt on car with LTs.

LOL Well I gues you did Bolt in the finished long block on to the mounts so it was a bolt on. Your just a bolt on non stock internal classed car, maybe thunder will have a new class for it this year.

Sure I could hit 11's with some decent gears....but 3.23's are not exactly helping me.

For the record, Stock Eliminator cars do not have trans-brakes.

I went 11.30's years ago with a bog stock motor when I added a cam and valve springs. No valve job. No blueprinting. And yes it was a Stock Eliminator car. Last year I pulled an LT1 from junk yard and added decent heads and cam and went 10.70's at 119 mph. As you can tell from the mph, it was in bad shape and didn't last long! It was, however, a lot of fun!!

Best Regards,
