Sorry a little long but....
A few months back I installed an EDGE 3400 lock-up converter. The thing performs great, I actually picked up about 1.5 MPH in the 1/4, and knocked off about .7 with traction. But that’s all great.
From day 1 I had a problem with the converter unlocking going down the road at 50+ MPH. Some times it would lock up and go 2 miles and then it would go 20 with out doing it. I've been frustrated and tried a number of things including replacing the TCC solenoid, wire harness, other solenoids and tranny temp sensor. None of this fixed it.
I had done some searching on this board and other and found nothing like the problem I had. I was looking on an LS1 board and found a sticky about random TCC unlock on the freeway. They said the problem was with the smaller diameter TC and less rotating mass, thus causing a false misfire, then unlocking the TCC. Has anyone else had these kind of problem with an LT1 and 4L60E?
Anyway I talked to Bryan Herter and he said he has only seen 1 or 2 LT1s with this problem and that the LS1 misfire diagnosis is more sophisticated than the LT1's. Anyone else out there with this problem or had this problem?
