few things,

1) does the slave cylinder need to be bled?

2) there is a shim that came with the clutch to put behind the slave cylinder, is this going to be a problem if I forgot to put it in there?

My pedal does not feel very grabby and there is alot of play, almost like it is spongy. It is also pretty hard to shift gears when the car is is on. When its off, shifting into gears is no problem, would this be because air in the clutch line/low tranny fluid?

I saw in my chiltons that the tranny holds 8 pts or 1 gal of fluid, when we filled up, it took only about one qt!

thanks to anyone who responds, any help is alot of help right now!

1. Not sure.

2. Might be. It's not hard to remove the slave. But it sure does sound like there is something wrong with slave/master setup. Try bleeding the system.

3. Tranny definitely takes 3.5 quarts or 1 gallon of fluid. Be sure that it is full or you will be ever so sorry.

4. Not sure how helpful I was but you're welcome.

not to be mean or anything, but that was probably one of the most worthless posts on a advanced tech board ever, I would probably think it was funny if it wasnt my thread tho:)

thanks for the help you did provide

Well i wouldn't have bothered at all except that I was quite concerned that you might go out an thrash a perfectly good tranny by not putting enough oil in it. Perhaps in the future I should care less about the misfortunes of others and say nothing at all.
