problems w/ clutch. need advice

my car has 180,000 miles on it and the clutch went out. its a 3.4L w/ a 5spd. i pulled the tranny down and replaced all the clutch internals and put it all back up. sat her down on the ground and the problems began. whenever the cluch pedal is down and in a gear, the car still pulls itself. if i apply the brake while this is happening, the car will stall out and die. when i start the car in gear w/ the pedal down, the car moves forward while starting. if i start the car out of gear and try to put it ingear, i cannot until the car pulls itself fast enough to allow first gear to go in. my question is what in the world is causing this. everything was put back up like it came out. the only thing i can think of would be the slave cylinder not working properly. before i changed the clutch, the pedal was extremely hard. now it is extremely soft, you bearly have to push it. everyonce in a while after changing the clutch the peda would become rock hard and i could not push the clutch in at all. and the arm on the slave cylinder was hardly moving. i have to replace it anyways b/c the cylinder burst when i put teh pedal down when it was to hard to move. any ideas, lemme know if i need to clearify anything for ya. thanx,
