What is needed to be NHRA legal for 10's?Erik 09-22-2002, 10:47 AM Helmet 6? point Cage Drive shaft loop Fire jacket Axels? What's needed there? Long wheel studs? SFI bellhousing? SFI harmonic ballancer? Are stock seatbelts no longer legal? Stock seatbelts dont cut it. There are others with the rulebook closer at hand that can answer these questions........i cant find my rulebook. GUMP 09-22-2002, 11:46 AM Erik, Helmet should be a SNELL 90, 95. 6 point minimum, if you still have factory floors, firewall, etc. Drive shaft loop. SFI spec.3.2A/1 jacket. Aftermarket axles and c-clip eliminators. The studs have to be long enough that they are into the hex portion of the nut by at least their diameter. Bellhousing SFI spec. 4.1. Balancer SFI spec. 18.1. Seat belts SFI spec. 16.1. An interesting note is that to run Stock Eliminator some of this stuff is not required. I hope that this helps, Daren You would also need: A transmission shield meeting SFI 4.1 and must pass under as well as over the transmission ie two piece trans shield, one piece with pan thet meets 4.1 or blanket type. If you cut up the floors, firewall, etc. you need the cage. SFI spec 4.1 (which I noted) is exactly what you said. Daren dougg01 09-24-2002, 10:22 AM Cage and net needed with stock floor/firewall iff it runs 135mph or better. You need a chute then too. Don't have to use it, but you have to have it. I think an electrical shutoff switch is needed as well....regardless if you run a relocated battery or not....(that one I'll have to look up). TedH 09-24-2002, 04:36 PM With stock flooring you can get by with a six point weled bar, but it must meet cerain cleance requirements. With a bar you don't need a net. With a cage, a net is required. My advice is to buy a rulebook first. Also, IHRA and NHRA have slightly different rules if you want to run at dfferent tracks. We installed a cage to strengthen the chassis, and a window net. I checked the rule book and overlooked the cage/roll bar requirement. Oh well thanks for the correction | ||
