How do you know when your going into boost ?

The boost needle goes one way, and the gas needle goes the other. :lol:

First make sure your boost gauge is plumbed into the intake manifold. Then you find a nice long peice of open road and you pin the throttle to the ground. If there are no leaks in the line from the manifold to the gauge there should be some boost especially in the higher RPMs. That is if your belt is not slipping and all the intake plumbing is on tight.

Heh.....you feel the "hand of god" start to push the car more and more as the rpms increase. Its a pretty cool feeling.:)

Try this...pump air or even blow air into the boost gauge tube...see if it goes up, just with my lungs i can move the gauge to like 2 or 3 psi... Its unlikely that the gauge is bad tho....Where do you have in plugged? make sure its not an opti line, those sometimes have one way valves on them

Also when your car is off. What does your boost gauge read? It should be 0 if not your gauge is not calibrated properly.

I ran my Z for a while last fall as I got tired of throwing belts and it went "OK" but you should be sporting a chubba if you get into boost :)

Do you hear a whistling noise?

Are you running a fast system or modified PCM?
Who's doing your tuning?

Are you going to Camaro day at New England Dragway tomorrow?

If so I'l go for a spin and evaluate boost / no boost ;)

I read the boost / vaccuum gauge at idle and it indicated 19" of vaccuum and it never indicated positive psi (boost) , but when the engine is turned off the gauge indicates 0 .
I plan to remove the S/C belt to see how it drives , and of course reinstall it .

It's not going to read boost at idle :D

I have a digital one that reads vacuum and boost, it never does anything to let you know what it is reading, but I usually know when the boost comes on since that is also when countersteer is required! :D

It will read like 6 or 7 when just putting around, then start to drop when you get on it, but then start counting back up pretty quick.
