I was driving my TTA home today through that construction zone on 14mile and John R and a sewer line that was protruding up from the road due to the top layers of concrete being removed ripped a whole in my oil pan.
I was luckily able to pull into a service station and drive a sheet
metal screw into the hole so I could fill it back up with oil and limp it home but it looks like I'll be needing a new oil pan.

On a related note does anyone think I'll be able to get the Oakland county road commission to foot the bill?
I happened to have a camera with me and documented the sewer line and damage to the car before we repaired it.

Dude, that sucks major rectal chamber.

You might get them to pay for it, but I bet its a butt load of paperwork, they will probalby make you take it to court, just to screw you out of more money, that way even if they pay, they still get more from you for court costs.

Best bet is just to get revenge. Blow up city hall :D

I dont have any experience at this, but I dont have a lot of confidence that you ll see a dime.. Could be wrong though

That sucks. As Freak said, you'll probably have to go through tons of paperwork and wait 6 months to get reimbursed. In the end the thing to do is fix it yourself and forget about it, sucks. :(

If memory serves me right, all road construction is now done through independent contractors. If that is the case call the lead contractor. I had something like this happen last winter. We had a new sidewalk laid in front of my house. The contractors left large rocks laying around that they didnt pick up. When winter came my snowblower decided to try and eat one of these rocks. Totally ruined the drive gears on the auger. I had it fixed and then called the contractor. Basically what I told him was he didnt do his job, and I now have a 450 dollar bill because of it. I told him I was sending him a copy of the bill, and if it wasnt paid I would sue for it. I recieved my check 3 weeks later. :D Good luck, and sorry to hear they hurt that beautiful ride.

That sux Jim. Definitely contact the road comission. I do believe they normally pay for stuff like that. I seem to recall the state or county paying for repairs to vehicles that had suspension damage for the major potholes on 275(?).

I'd say, as long as your car isn't lowered, they have to pay for it.

Try calling your Insurance company first and run this by them, see what they can tell you.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I have to call the road commissioner back tomorrow.
Does anyone happen to know what the book time is for RnR of an Oil pan in a third gen?
I think I'll probably have to pay for this out of pocket and get reimbursed.
