How to do a brake stand w/ a manual tranny?

How do you do it properly? I've never done it before with a manual. I tried by putting it into 1st gear w/o giving it any gas. Then once it was in gear and the car creeping slowly I hit the brakes and gas at the same time but it just kept stalling on me. Obviously this would look really stupid to anyone youre trying to show-off for. I'm just testing this out, I didnt want to break anything by dumping the clutch.

Linelock :thumb:. It's the only way to do it right ;). Sure, if you can master the heel-toe technique (heel on brake, toe on gas) without a linelock, you get "bragging rights", but it's not the best for the car, and it's a PITA :rolleyes:.

line lock is the best way to go. before the linelock I used to heel toe the gas , brake. some people will dump the clucth and qwickly move their left foot to the brake. its very tricky and not very safe. just get a line lock, they are lots fo fun to have!

Any recommendations on a specific one?

SLP makes one to that has all the lines pre bent and is easy to intsall. i think its cheaper too. Not sure on the quality though

I like my SLP line lock kit very much, it comes as a complete kit from the pre-bent lines to the last bolt. Easy 20 min install.
Before the line lock, I'd raise revs to 3500, dump clutch and hold it quickly with my left foot on the brakes. It worked ok, but the tail always wanted to go sideways, and the rear pads were gone in no time...with the linelock now I can do burnouts in 2nd gear :)

Check out the line lock kits at sjm manufacturing. They are much nicer and less expensive then SLP kits IMHO.
