wu6fiend 05-29-2004, 09:44 PM Out running errands today, saw a black '93-'97 TA pulling onto 184th in Cloverdale. Nice looking car, really nice looking rims. If anybody knows the owner, I'd like to know what brand of rims those are. 5 spoke, probably 18", chrome finish. Anybody know the owner of the Trans Am? Driver was a young guy with short dark hair.

All GM options, most SLP options, lots of aftermarket parts
CoryM 05-29-2004, 09:53 PM Seen the car a couple times in cloverdale. Drove past him tonight even. I will send him this way if I run into him.
ollie-99 05-29-2004, 10:10 PM isnt that craigs car
quickta or whatever his nickname is
Tw!tchb!tch 05-29-2004, 11:05 PM That sounds alot like Craigs car , crome 18" R's
Camaro ChriSS 05-29-2004, 11:41 PM Sounds like 1quickgt. Craig. Haven't seen his rims yet.
wu6fiend 05-30-2004, 12:01 AM Twitch, by "R's" do you mean ZR1's? If so, they werent ZR1's, the spokes were thinner, the central hub wasnt as big, and the transition from spoke to spoke was a right angle, not a curve, like the ZR1's. Im looking for a replacment for my OEM Firehawk rims, and these were really good looking rims. If anybody sees the car, see if you can spot the brand of rims for me! Thanks guys.
JeffK95Z 05-30-2004, 02:06 AM I think the 'R' wheels they speak of are the same ones on the Cobra's, late 90's style
i think...
JD30thZ28 05-30-2004, 03:23 AM That does sound like Craig's Car, these are the wheels he has...
Cobra R Rims (http://www.afswheels.com/v2/ecommerce/WheelCatalog/400/CR5lc10ka.jpg)
SBainsTA 05-30-2004, 04:39 AM I gurantee that was craig
wu6fiend 05-30-2004, 07:55 AM Hmm, those could be the rims. I thought the spokes were thinner, though, and they didnt have that curve to them. Anyway, if it was Craig, tell him about this thread, and ask him to confirm that was him. Thanks guys.
1quickgt 05-30-2004, 01:39 PM hey guys yup thats me i live right of of 184th and 64th there....but ya there 285-35-18" chrome cobra r's thanks for the complemnts:D now all i need are those damn sportlines
Tw!tchb!tch 05-30-2004, 02:24 PM The spokes arent quite as curvey ,

wu6fiend 05-31-2004, 01:22 AM Nice car, Craig. Any pictures of the rims straight on, close up? And, ballpark, what does a set of those 18" rims cost?
1quickgt 05-31-2004, 08:09 AM thanks bud:D uhh ya i have a few pictures but i cant host them for some stupid reason.. i think there to big... i actualy bought the wheels of dave (twitchb!tch) so hed could prob tell you how much he got them for... i think they had to be custom made though...you live in cloverdale?
Tw!tchb!tch 05-31-2004, 11:20 AM I dont think you can get them anymore . . . I tried to have them build me another set in 18 x 10.5 but no go.
Go on Jd's web site and on his main page my cars in the backround with a clossup of the wheel. . . . theres also some really cool vids to watch while your there
wu6fiend 06-01-2004, 12:08 AM Found the picture, Twitch, very nice rims (and car too, BTW). So they were custom ordered, and are no longer available? Just my luck. I suppose, ball park for a set of 18" rims, you'd be looking at around $2000 for rims, eh? I'm still puzzling over what to do about my OEM Firehawk rims; the chrome is starting to get quite pitted on the outside, and the inner surface is in really bad shape. A replacement set from SLP is around $1200 U.S., but with no guarantee the inside surface wouldnt deteriorate just as badly over time. So, the search continues!
No, I dont live in Cloverdale, but in Newton. Hope to meet you guys in person sometime, maybe at a show this summer.

Tw!tchb!tch 06-01-2004, 10:13 AM They didnt start out as a custom order , when the took my money they quoted me two weeks to my door. 3 months later they explained to me they had to be built and plated because of the chevy bp. I personally think the person talking the order didnt know the difference in chevy / ford bp. Im also trying to get a set of 18 x 10.5 saleen wheels done up in my bolt pattern . . . . they will look pimpy. Im selling my c5's this winter.
There are alot of kewl chrome wheels availible . I have a set of 18 x 10 smoothie II's ( polished ) coming up brand new from boyd that I will be selling . 18 x 10 much kewler . . . .and I take visa now hint hint .

Would the same vendor have them in ZO6 rims 18* 10.5?
Tw!tchb!tch 06-01-2004, 04:29 PM Yup, 1700.00 cdn for the set of four chrome 18 x 10.5 zo6 tax included.
IMO, zo6 wheels on t/a's = :barf:
1quickgt 06-01-2004, 08:51 PM im guessing youve never seen them in chrome on a 2002 ws-6:bow:

you can always have em sent off to santa ana plating: http://www.chroming.com/index.htm get em rechromed and they have a option of polishing the barrel (inside) as well. as far as i know they do superior work:bow:
they charge 100 per wheel plus 25 per wheel for barrel polishing. that way you still have your oem wheels on your firehawk.....or you can just buy a different set from twitch or i :D

wu6fiend 06-02-2004, 03:57 PM I wish one of you enterprising guys would start selling SLP stuff, so I could buy from you, instead of from SLP or from that bunch of crooks in Montreal. Right now my only option is SLP directly, I guess. Thanks for the link, Twitch, I sent that company an email inquiring about the cost. Only problem is, my car is a daily driver, so I would have to find some way of keeping it on the road while the rims were off being refinished. I wish I could buy a replacement set of these rims locally! I want to keep the OEM look, so going to a set of aftermarket rims is not the best option for me.
