WOOT!! WOOT!!:D
I cant wait. A friend of mine who owns his own mechanics shop will be helping out. Might as well take advantage of the hoist, pit and tools. Going in:
GC Coilovers
Eibach Springs
Koni SAs
LG LCAs
LG Torque arm
LG Panhard bar
Spohn Cromoly SFCs
Energy Suspension front control arm bushing kit
Ill be going for an alignment right after everything goes in. Anyone got any alignment specs I should be shooting for?
Other then unhooking the battery, any last minute advice?
Tw!tchb!tch 05-27-2004, 06:34 PM That is a wicked collection of parts man !!
How do the spohn sfc's look ?? I hear they only weigh 7# a side . . . .could you post some pics of the install/ how they look welded in ??
Thats gotta be over 3000 $ in goodies
EDIT: Can you weigh them too ( the spohn sfc's ) ??

I dont have a digital camera Dave but Im on a mission to find one at the moment. Im sure the SFCs are more than 7 pounds a side....just guessing, probably more like 12 or so. Youve got me curious now, Ill see what I can do.:)

Let me know how these turn out. What are the specs on your springs?
Twitch, have you got any recent pricing on the Koni's and the coilovers? You never did get back to me on those:p
Ok....my guesstimate was way off....7 pounds on the nose.:) So for 14 total pounds vs the much improved chassis stiffness...I dont have a problem with that.

I went the 500/150 combo. Im crossing my fingers that Ill be happy with that....actually, Im crossing my fingers that Ill be happy with everything.:p :)
Tw!tchb!tch 05-27-2004, 10:44 PM Keep us posted with pics
Do you have a plan for setting up the konis yet ?? Id start out 3.5 sweeps up from full soft out front and 1 - 2 sweeps up out back. I made the mistake of starting out almost full hard and it was like stuffing rocks up my ass cruising arond town. . . and use the lower spring perch setting on the front shocks so you dont run outa threads incase you want her slammed .
Do you have a tool for removing the top hat ?
Mr bains I havent looked into it in a while. . . koni upped there pricing across the board 04/04. . . . might be a good idea to run into slopac and see if you can score a set at there old price.
Im not dealing as much with Gc right now ( not direct anymore as ther dick heads ) I just go through a company that ships them for me so I dont have to deal with them and sellem for list. I personaly hope they go bankrupt but there **** works good and sells well so bah. . . .
Which reminds me , throw a coat of trimclad on your rear springs that come with the gc kit and then respray them silver / gunmetal. Mine started to rust to **** right away and I had to strip them and refinish them .

I fabbed one up. Those nuts were still a b!tch to get off though. One of the nuts was close to being stripped b/c the socket was spreading.....even with some vice grips on the socket as well. It all worked out though.
I was thinking of going with 4 sweeps for the front and 1 on the back. Anything more I think will be too much. You must have been close to bouncing off the road with the initail "full hard" settings.
oldschool 05-27-2004, 11:11 PM Glad to hear your suspension is going to turn out Kaos. I just find suspension to be such a variable mod. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnn't. Maybe I'm just bitter at how much my own suspension "correction" is going to cost. If I were one of the "stiff" suspension guys, I would be ALL over the open road racing offered by the Performance Driver's Club out of Mission. Only way to really test it out!
Andy
I can only hope it does Andy, thanx. Ive spent 100s of hours on this friggen computer researching, asking questions and reasearching more. I can only hope now it all turns out to my liking.
Camaro ChriSS 05-28-2004, 12:41 AM Well, I can't wait to hear your feedback after the install and some testing on those winding Kootenay roads.
Tw!tchb!tch 05-28-2004, 12:47 AM You must have been close to bouncing off the road with the initail "full hard" settings.
The strain from trying to hold on was giving me neck cramps :p
Drumhawk 05-28-2004, 10:06 AM Sweet set-up, welcome to the corner-carvers club. :)
NorthernSS 05-28-2004, 11:00 AM That sounds like the thousands in parts I have laying on my floor waiting to be installed. I have almost the same set up.
Koni sa
Pro Kit
Spohn LCS, Adj PHR, relo brackets
I just wish I was doing SFC and GC like you were. Shall be fun.
sideways_Into_3rd 05-28-2004, 11:31 AM I almost got the same setup in mine .. except for koni DAs .. sometimes i wish i would have gotten the SAs instead .. the DAs softest bump setting is still stiffer than the SA .. not sure about their rebound adjustment range ...
damn convertible, makes it so hard to adjust rebound i havent even touched mine yet :shame:
Tw!tchb!tch 05-28-2004, 11:45 AM Yup Da = lighter wallet mod unless your racing and you know how to set them up . Sometimes more adjustments = too many adjustments.
Also pro kit sooo soft for Da's , there a racing shock hence the higher out of the box settings. You may want to swap in a set of LG motorsport springs and see how it feels. My guess is you are are essentialy riding your shock damping around the street. . .
Edit: I didnt know yours are the oem GM DA's, not sure if they are internally the same as the out of the box units from koni.
sideways_Into_3rd 05-28-2004, 11:56 AM very possible ... I just got the prokit because i scored a good deal on them .. same with the DAs (dont ask me what i paid for all 4 cuz u'll kick urself)
i may end up swapping the springs, but at the time I just couldnt find any spring that I wanted ... the LG ones have a less linear stiffness than the pro kits at the end of their scale
but that may be whats causing the crappy ride... I'll let u take it for a test drive on sunday .. tell me how u like it
Tw!tchb!tch 05-28-2004, 12:37 PM well you have to factor in 40 000 km's of use , thats alot for any high wearing part.
The prob with the pro kits is you will never see the end of there spring rates because your already out of travel. . . . this is especially noticable on later models with the 1/2 inch alluminum bump stop spacer. You can ruffly fit two fingers between the bump stop and the axle on the pro kit/ sportlines and the setup I have now. Eibachs are mush for the first few inches of travel . .. thats way more important than what there final rates are imo.
Reach in and check how much room you have before its on the stops out back. . . .
sideways_Into_3rd 05-28-2004, 01:57 PM aint got no stops in the back :shame:
Tw!tchb!tch 05-28-2004, 03:35 PM  thats hard core !!
I found the knob adjuster thing so Ill bring it sunday :)
o-zone 05-29-2004, 02:49 AM Hey Darrin, that's a pretty sweet set up your
puttin' in your beast. So you decided to keep
the pro kit after all. I had my car out on the
holiday Monday & some A$$ rearended me out
in Abbotsford @ a 4 way stop:mad: . Now she's
@ the body shop.
PS, hope you like your new set up.
Steven...
No no Steve...the GC kit uses different springs for the coilover setup. I still got my prokit for sale. Interested?;)
Anyway all, it was a long day. Spent the entire day at the shop. Things took alot longer than I expected. Got everydone done except the SFCs. The biggest b1tch was installing the new bushing kit...that ate up a lot of time.
I lowered the car 2.25 on the front and 1.5 in the rear first crack. I made a couple fine adjustments and tried it out. Outside of the alignment being out, i was very impressed with the ride. I could defineately feel more of the road and the car felt very tight. The handling has no doubt improved big time. I didnt some mid speed power slides and the car was extremely stable.
I felt 2.25 was too low however and bumped it up to 1.75 on the front. That half inch took some looks out of the car however. It looked really good lower, but it was just too low. I was also concerned that I might be messing too much with the suspension geometry with the car that low. Im not sure, but if someone has some info, please let me know.
Another thing, I didnt put on my relocation brackets. I have heard many stories about wheel hop with a lowered car. I laid a 100 foot strap and had no problems at all.
Ill be in for an alignment tomorrow.
Darren
o-zone 05-29-2004, 05:17 AM Hey Darren,
I am still interested in lowering my car soon but
have to wait till I get my car back from the body
shop, that a$$ hit me pretty good in the ass-end.
PM me how much you were asking for them Ok!:)
