Since I install my cam (224/228 581/589) my tapping noise has gotten much louder! Now I had a loudmouth on before and since have changed to a muffler system so that might be why I can hear my valve train more.? But I was also woundering was it due to the high lift cam?(Slamming down and it's on a 112 LSA also) you know faster ramp and so on. I've also heard with LT's you will hear more valve train noise also.? So could it be noises lifters from day one(stock) or cam + springs + LT's=more noise? Any help or comments would be great.

Valvetrain noise on a cammed LS1 in completely normal. My buddy had an 01 WS6 that was whisper quiet (aside from the Loudmouth and LT headers) and then I F-14 cammed it and the sewing machine noise was definately noticable. This was on a 60K or 70K mile car and we didnt change lifters.

You might be able to cure some of the noise by adjusting lifter preload. Unfortunately, our rockers aren't adjustable. So, you'd have to do this by changing pushrod length. The internal engine section at LS1Tech.com is a great place to learn more about this. Just search for "preload" in the internal engine forum. There's like 7 pages of threads. ;)

Its an aluminum engine. There is going to be more noise in comparison to cast iron.

You definetly hear more valvetrain noise with a cam upgrade. As long as you upgraded the valvesprings/pushrods, there's nothing to worry about.
