I accidently ran a School bus that had it's stop arm extended, totally did not even see it (there were two lanes of traffice going in each direction and a turning lane, so a total of 3 lanes between me and the bus when I passed it.) Was given a moving misdemeanor ticket and have to appear in court now. Does anyone know what the typical sentence is for this?

I did the same thing, but I am in MO. I was pissed because I was mailed the ticket, which means the bus driver called the sheriff's office. I forget the details, but some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to a lawyer made it go away.

In IL that is minimum one year suspended lisence but if you got a mista- ticket it is apparently less severe in MO.

I told her, but for some reason she thought it was funny.

1 year suspended license and 1 year in jail are completely different, she laughed at the "minimum 1 year in jail" comment
i would too!
law is no matter how many lanes of traffic there are i=on the road, if a school bus is stopped with the arm extended you must also stop

Unless there is a barrier, i.e. wall, guard rail, etc.
BTW FYI its MA = up to a year
MB = up to 180 days
MC = up to 60 days
Here is how the IC code reads:
9-21-8-52:
Reckless Driving -
(a) A person who operates a vehicle and who recklessly:
(5) passes a school bus stopped on a road-way when the arm signal device specified in IC 20-9.1-5-14 is in the device's extended position;
commits a class B misdemeanor.
(b) If an offense under subsection (a) results in damage to the property of another person, the court shall recommend the suspension of the current driving license of the person for a fixed period of:
(1) not less that thirty (30) days; and
(2) not more than one (1) year.
That is out of my IC code book. There is more in there I skipped down to section 5 seeing as that delt with the school bus issue.
What dept gave you the ticket?
Have you been to court before and if so for what and when?
Did they give you an Information Summons I take it?
EDIT:
Your from WI, not IN this is all IN code so WI may be different. I neglected to read your location.
