hey guys.. im currently loooking at this cam. i have a near stock car. (lid and loudmouth) so im not looking at anything HUGE.

so for those of you who have it, how do you like it?

how much power have you gained and how does it sound? is it as streetbale as they say on the site? at first i was looking at the ls6 cam. but now i want something that has just a LITTLE more amount of lopiness and a LITTLE more power.

oh and ive got m6 2000 camaro. i wont need any tuning right? just gotta raise the rev. limiter?

Might as well get the 224. I hear lots of good things about that cam. :D

Not a bad cam, especially if you plan on keeping stock manifolds....but you really should do some LT'S first then think about a cam. The gains will be close if you do the 220 cam on stock manifolds or stock cam and LT's.

two words: go bigger. You dont have to get huge and the 224 isnt huge by anymeans. If you get a smaller cam, you will soon be wanting a larger one...just my input

Have similar questions about cams, don't want to get a $500 dyno tune or lose drivablity. (daily driver in summer and has been used in winter) Like the Z06 but is there better? TR224 sounds good but the dyno tune. Have enough $$ for headers and Z06 cam plus oil pump and timing chain. That should be faster than a TR224 only, about the same $ when done.

I would recommend tuning with any cam installation (except maybe the Z06), tuning will pull every last ounce of HP out your car. It's worth the money.

Jason(co-owner) put that cam in his wife's 35th Ann. SS and it picked up 31-32RW with stock manifolds and cats(A4). It's a great cam if you looking for a little more power. You could definitely go larger if you wanted to, but is really depends on what you want out of the car. I would recommend a tune with any cam, especially the larger ones, to get the full potential out of it. I'll see if I can't find the dyno graph.

thanks man..
yeah i CAN go bigger but i need to pass emmisions and i dont like the choppy sound that most cams make..

i want a little lopiness but nothing thats really noticeable..

what should the rev. limiter be set at with this cam?

you got any sound clips or anyhting?

Amit- Set the limiter ~6600 and shift right about 6K. You probably won't feel much lope to it and it won't be choppy. We usually call this cam our sleeper cam. I will see if we have any sound clips.

I had a 224/228/114SA 0.578 lift cam put in my 02 SS M6. Dyno tuned at 375 rwhp/363 rwtq. Very streetable and not too lobey. Very flat torq. Hits 350 rwtq at 3200 and stays flat to 6500 rpm.

I didn't have it inspected yet. Mikey says it will pass.
