Ok Dans GTA is officially down for the season. I have put up with the intake coolant leak for too long and my left side header gasket was starting to need replacement anyway. So being as Ive wanted to do heads and a cam for like "ever" It is time. This will be a budget deal. Ok you can look at this as an experiment and maybe do something similar.
the stats---89 gta 350 104,000 on the clock. short block has maybe 30,000 the heads are clean but look like 104,000, 3.73 posi rear original.
the base performance mods allready done.... ok Ive allready done stuff so its not like this is a bone stock start from scratch kinda thing. I got headers, full custom exhaust all the way to the tips(header delete option). I ported and polished the plenum with nice results. I have an adjustable fuel regulator I made, and and msd blaster coil, I rerouted the coolant lines to the throttle body and fooled with some emissions stuff. I got a stage 3 jet chip which was the biggest wast of money but Ill keep it in there as its not worth my time to take it out.
the mods to come..... Ok Im almost done yanking the damn engine out (lots and lots and lots of crap hooked to the motor!! who needs engine mounts the crap alone could hold the motor in!! How many grounds does one engine need anyway!!!)
after it is out and on my new spiffy engine stand (there cheap nowadays!!) Im taking motor down to the short block which is kinda fresh anyways. Im going to port and polish the heads myself (any web sites you know of that show tips and tricks would be apreciated) I had great results when I did this to the intake plenum and expect great things here. After the reaming Im taking the heads to a machine shop to do a 3 way valve grind for 125.00 or so. THen Im buying a new cam set (one of those that comes with everything needed to do it for like 250.00 or so. and then getting a full gasket kit to button it up. While I got it out Im going to off the air pump (hate thaT damn thing!) . And do some pimping (red anodized paint on the valve covers and plenum).

after all is done we shall see what these cheapo mods can do. Id like to be in the 13's. If this doesnt do it (I think it will) then the nitrous goes in next.
