Dropping air pressure

On street tires. How much can I remove to drag race? I have 275/40/18 on the rear goodyear F1 runflats. I want to improve my traction.Sorry I sold my drag radials. I also have my fron swaybar disconected.

Most street tires don't like going below 28 psi. Once they get below that the sidewalls are too stiff to roll over and it forces the center of the tire off the ground which gives you even less traction.

Many times a street radial tire will hook up better with more air pressure not less.

Agreed. I tried dropping my tire pressure as low as 20 - 22 psi last year w/ 3.73's, and my 60' times didn't improve at all.....in fact, I think they got worse?:think: (like 2.3's?!:irk: ). On the street, I was noticing a lot more wheel spin and chirping, so I inflated the tires from 30 to 35 psi, and I was getting better traction after?:confused: I think I should have tried that at the track too:rolleyes:.

I used to run my 245's around 28...worked best for me:D

35 psi worked for me best, too. Anything below that, and I was getting no traction at all...

just run them at the minimum recomended:thumb:

The other thing is to increase the pressure in your front tires to reduce rolling resistance. I usually bump my fronts up to 40 psi at the track.
