QTP Headers and Installation

QTP Header:

These headers are the best quality headers that I have ever seen. The welds are great and smoothed out inside the flange. The headers are made from 304 Stainless Steel with a wall thickness of 0.049”. The Hooker LT’s have the primary sticking through the flange, as the QTP’s do not. The flange is smooth on the head side and provides a better seal. When I removed the Hooker LT’s, I had a header leak on #6 and #7. The Hooker LT was torqued per spec and still had a small leak. The QTP's tuck up great and ground clearance is great, even with cats. The O2 bungs are on the inside of the header, they way they should be.

Installation:

The passenger side header slid right in without trouble. I used the Stage 8 bolt’s as well. The driver side is a tad more difficult. I removed the oil filter and drain plug. Then, the header slid up into place. The car was off the ground 20” and no problems in that area. These were easier to install than the Hooker LT’s I had before. Out of all of the LT’s I have installed, these were the easiest. The headers are pull closer to the engine giving a lot of clearance around steering shaft.

Y-Pipe Installation:

This came in 5 pieces. It looks intimidating but it really isn’t. I just started with the pieces that go onto each header collector. Rotating the piece to get the best clearance, progress to the next piece. The band clamp, that QTP provided, are strong. They are much better than the thin, stainless clamps that I used during the Hooker LT install. These clamps are narrower and very thick.

Gotta give QTP a big thumbs up for an outstanding product. When I ordered mine Barry was very helpful and the ETA was dead on. Great product and great customer service...................priceless in my book.

but how much did you pay for em?

i like the fact i got my headers, with coating, ypipe, metal gaskets, EGR plate, o2 extensions and all the hardware for about $550

and the install was a snap...10.5hrs by myself having NEVER installed headers on ANY car.

How'd you get your stuff that cheap? I called QTP and for non-coated headers and a catted y-pipe, they want $1300

That's because they're 304SS, which is never cheap. No coating is needed either, unless you want them to stay really shiney.
And a cat'd Y-pipe ain't cheap either. I paid around $950-1000 total for mine (for everything including the ORY).

QTP's are top notch quality. Glad to see you're happy with your's too. :thumb:

sorry dude...if you look at my sig...i have the coated Flowtechs...not the qtps

they worked for me quite well, since i was on a budget...and the difference in gains is extremely minimal.

i think thunder or tbyrne has them on sale now even...so you can get em cheaper than what i even paid

my QTP headers where AWESOME. My ypipe was however the biggest piece of **** in the world. Had to get an exhaust shop to fix it and remake half of it cuz qtp says i didn't specify my type of car (Convertible). Which I KNOW i did. Oh well. was a 30 dollar fix.

yeah my QTP y pipe was the biggest piece of crap i had ever installed on a car. The guys at QTP had terrible customer service in my opinion. called them numerous times without any all back.

How come they were crap? What were the problems? Quality or fit?

Mine fit perfect and I have the catted y-pipe. Out of all of the y-pipes I have had, this one is the best.

Both quality and Fitment was TERRIBLE on mine. It hangs SUPER LOW. I got the one with the dual cutouts. I had to go to an exhaust shop to get them to edit the driver side cutout since it was so low... And now, the cutout is higher but the pipe that leads to the 4 inch flowmaster outlet (center) hangs real low because of the ****ty bend QTP gave me. I am contemplating just getting a whole new ypipe redone cuz i really wanna lower my car but that will never happen with this ypipe.

I have QTP headers/Y Pipe and they fit great. Went in with out any problems and picked up some hp. No dyno #s just SOTP meter :)

I just saw a post that they have fresh batch done so i would assume they have 01-02 available. Saw it on LS1TECH

They told me the same thing last week too
