My buddy got his bugs worked out of his Camaro last week. Replaced opti, plugs, wires, and intake gasket. He's got K&N CAI, Borla cat-back, and short throw shifter. Last time we raced with his F'd up ignition, well, it wasn't much of a race LOL! I beat him by like 4-5 on motor.

So anyways, he decideds to try it out again. We agree to run once with me on motor, and once on spray just for $h!ts and giggles.

So we line up, I had agreed to give HIM the pop. He leaves with a little wheelspin, and so do I. We are side by side through 3rd gear, I mean litteraly looking at each other door to door. Then he starts slowly pulling away in 3rd. Went through the finish with him out about 1 full car.

We line back up for the run on spray and I agreed to give him 1 car AND the pop. He leaves the same way as do I. I go to the juice about 4k in 1st, catch him, and pass him as I shift 2nd. From there it was ugly. I had about 6-7 cars when I let off, and I hadn't even gotten to the finish yet.

It was fun though. Fixing his ign. really helped and he's happy with his car now. I'd say on a good night he could prolly get high 13s @ around 100ish with his car. Sounds about right with his couple of mods and a M6 LT1 with 115k on the clock. That and by judging from the race on motor from me...

BTW, my ETs are sig. Car is stock except for the nitrous. Only thing changed last night was I had 100 pill in from last week.

I think that Z28 still runs like crap... not taking away from your car, it runs great, but that Z28, only having one carlength on you (and you trap 98) is pathetic. the mileage on that car doesnt mean anything, those cars are still as strong then as they are new. with his modifications he should be trapping somewhere around 102-103 easy, and I'd figure ETs in the mid 13s, not high 13s. just my .02 good race though :)

I agree, i mean you gave him a head start and still had 6-7 car lenths? I mean a head start? Thats like 4 cars right there.

That Z you raced cannot be running right (no way)... I really hope that you know that! Do not get over excited beating a Z with bolt on's and brag about giving him a head start. He shoulve given you a head start if he's car was running right...:D

Alright, I see the smiles by some of your posts, but you're still acting like idiots. A stock LT1 M6 with 114K miles on the clock, coming from out of state, not knowing what kind of care/shape the car was in, is not nessessarilly going to run mid 13s or better. Check the sig fellas, I HAD a LT1. Mine was a freak, but a lot are just the opposite. Mine ran a best of 13.62 @ 102 BONE STOCK with an A4 and 2.73s. I wish I could say that all LT1s run that good, but the simple fact is that they don't, PERIOD.

The run on motor, he beat me by about 1 car. The run where I had 6-7 cars, I was on spray, and the driver of the Z let off once I got about 4 cars or so out. That Altima is capable of 12s on spray. Why is hard to believe that a high 12 second car would put multiple carlengths on a high 13 sec car???

And just to make some of you close-headed people feel better, the guy in the Z can't drive. We went out again the night before last and raced again- this time, ME driving his Z28, and HIM driving my Altima NA. I gave him the pop in my car, and put about 2 cars on him when I let out at the top of 3rd. And I wasn't even banging through the gears:D We did it a second time and I ran it part-way through 4th and had about 3 cars on him. That kid can't launch his car for s h i t! OR mine for that matter:D There's nothing wrong with his car BTW (except the driver), it feels strong.

Bottom line, if I could theoretically drive both cars at the same time;) my guess it would be a relatively close race with the edge going to the Z28. I think I could prolly put a couple of cars on myself:) .....

When my Z was stock my Altima 3.5SE felt about as strong. Of course, the Altima doesn't have the torque of the Camaro.

Now, if an LT1 with bolt-ons raced a 3.5SE with bolt-ons, the Camaro would smoke it. The LT1 has a lot of power to free up just from bolt-ons, where as the 3.5 won't see as much of an improvement.:)

Dude were agreeing with you. The maro driver really sux and his car is a pos. It has to be if you gave him a head start and then smoked him.

Before I go off here, both of you PLEASE re-read my above post.

I clearly explained why everything both of you just said is incorrect...

Thanks, Jon

Do some research. The 3.5VQ motor is extremely corked up from the factory.

I'm not arguing about who would win with the most bolt-ons, who makes more power, which ones cheaper, etc. Just stating that you are incorrect sir. Impressive gains can be found with just CAI and Cat-back on the 3.5.

Sorry to say but, you cannot really brag about your altima if you admit that the Z was driven by a bad driver. Z28 stock vs stock altima will pound the altima no mercy...:D

Good win but you still got a four door ugly looking box thats pretty fast. I know a neon that'll put your box to sleep. So what's your point. Yes you got a fast ugly car. I'll still take a slow Z28 over that. :)

COMNBYU don't take my post to serious.

I just had to flame on somebody today. :D

COMNBYU -

Get ready to trade yours in on an 05 Altima SE-R. Same engine, luxury interior, nice wheels & brakes, and a 6spd (isn't the current one 5spd?)

Look is all personal prefferance chief. I think the LS1 Z28s look like sheit compared to every other Camaro made in history (well, maybe it looks a little better than the '74-'76:D ). But that's MY opinion. I happen to think that the new Altimas look pretty good. Don't get mad because an Altima beat a Camaro, it's not the end of the world;)

Yea, I've heard about those. Rumor has it that the HP will be no less than the 265 rated Maxima, and a few people have thought it possible to see the 287 that the 350Z has. Regardless, I feel pretty sure there will be SOME change in HP to the engine. Stiffer suspension, 18in wheels, bigger brakes, and yes, a 6spd will replace the current 5spd manual tranny.

It should be a pretty solid attractive looking ride. However, I'm actually getting rid of mine here in another week. I'm tired of making damn near $1k/mnth in car and insurance. I'll be driving my trusty old '84 Buick for everyday use, and am in the process of looking for a foxbody 'stang for my next play toy...
