My cruise control decided to stop working today... anything I check like a fuse or do I have to buy an entire new unit? (mainly... what fuse do I check?)

See if your third brake light is burnt out, it rides on the same circut as the cruise does.

Ok, does your a/c still work? I have a bad compressor, everytime I moved the HVAC fan control past any off the a/c settings to regular fan settings, it would blow the fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I just unplugged the a/c at the unit. Anyway, still check the fuses in the engine bay.

It could just be that the switch is screwed. F-bodies use the exact same switch that older GM trucks used, and a lot of them (switches) die. I know we had that with my dad's old truck, and his friend at work had the exact same problem too......the cruise still worked, but with a new switch;).

Is that so? My truck and car have the exact same blinker handles. Niether work now. But it would be nice to pay $5 per vehicle to fix them as opposed to $200 a piece.

Did you take it off to check it? There are 2 bulbs there IIRC, which means you might still get light out of it, and still have one burned out, rendering your cruise control unfunctional.

I was in autozone the other day they had a few of the turn signal switch assemblies for sale on a shelf. they are priced much cheaper than the ones from the GM dealer.

well guys...

today the cruise control decided to magically heal itself... hope thats not a warning sign. Thanks for the suggestions though, because the switch might be all my truck needs:)

I have an interesting issue with mine. Takes some cajoling to get it to work.

I have do this:
-Pressing the throttle in some
-Hold the button in (to the right) until it engages and then still hold it in a little more, while I'm still accelerating. If I let off too early, the cruise will come off. Sometimes I will have to keep pushing it in (it not engaging wasn't b/c I didn't hold it in long enough - it just wasn't going to work that time.)
-Have to be going 5-8mph under the speed I intend on setting the cc at, because of how I have to hold it in before it will "stick."
-Playing with the other buttons on the stick helps too...

Basically I avoid hitting the brakes.

^ ^ again, sounds like your switch is dying, since it's getting harder and harder to set (and it's not that it won't work, it's just hard;)). I think the connections inside the switch must be cheap and wear out to the point they don't make good contact anymore?

mine stopped working, but then it was just a wiring problem, it was fixed, i never use it though
