Not sure what forum to put this in, if this is the wrong one I apologize.

Looking at buying a 96 TA. What are some of the thing I should look at? It's an A4 with 70k on the odo. Thanks.

check for oil leaks, if there is don't worry I think almost every LT1 on this message board leaks oil somewhere. Tranny slipage, brakes, tires, power accessories. Take it for a test drive and watch the gauges, and if everything looks good :thumb: join the LT1 club. Couldn't hurt to have your mechanic look the car over as well. How much is the car going for? T Tops, leather?

Thanks. The car has T-tops, its black with charcoal interior, with a few power options. I just have to go check it out now.

Some f-body things I have noticed are the power window motors seem to go out check that. Then general things as stated above, ac, tires, brakes, make sure it isn't running really rich or anything. Also see what gears it has. I know z28's are like this so I assume TA's are too. If it goes 1-2-d-od-n-r-p you have 3.23's if it has no 1 and goes 2-d-od-n-r-p then it has 2.73's you probably already know that though. Also make sure the t-tops have no leaks or anything like that. Good luck.

If it's any consolation, you had the right idea looking at that car.

Just find another one like it.

Yeah I'd like to find me a LT1 T/A. I think it will be a nice upgrade from the one I have now. Nothing against my current T/A, but the LT1 is WAY better than the 305 I have now. Anyone want to trade/ sell me one?

:)

If you're shopping for LT1s, check for leaking water pumps. 70k is pretty typical lifespan. There is a weep hole on the bottom side of the pump. A leaking waterpump usually means the opti will need replacement too.
