pro's and con's of different exhausts?

I'm going to have some money left over after getting my ram air hood + paint so I'm looking to get an exhaust for my 98 Trans am. Its stock right now. Wondering what you guys recommend. Everyone I've asked has had something completely different to say than the last one.

Loudmouth- my buddy has an 02 ws6 with the loudmouth, headers, cam, etc, and the thing pretty much explodes when it starts up and idles pretty loud. I live in somehwhat of a quiet neighborhood and don't want to break any of their windows with it..

borla - my friends say its too expensive, not worth it, etc

flowmaster- another friends 95 formula sounded pretty good with it, but some other people have said not to get it.

I want a strong, deep, throaty sound, not something obnoxiously loud. Also I'm assuming that the hp gains from those 3 are pretty similar?

Thanks guys

E Cutout baby!! Cheaper than cat backs, can be 'stock' quiet, and 'beastly' loud with the flip of a switch:D

do you plan to keep the manifolds and cats? headers? cam?

If you just want a muffler, I can send you a basic single 3" in/out flowmaster for cost of shipping. It's sitting around, looking for a home. Single 3" in, single plain slash tip. Good for sound, if nothing else

Try dynomax or magnaflow if you want stainless. Pretty quiet at idle (sounds quieter than stock imo) but has a very nice rumble when you get into it, and screams up top.

Their sound clip isn't that great but it gives you an idea.

Dynomax 3" - inexpensive and not real loud.

Flowmaster Singles. Great sound, might be too loud for you though.

Flowmaster with stock manifolds and small(2.73) gear. Sounds great and only a little drone at highway speed.

Magnaflow with headers and bigger gears(3.73+.) It's loud at WOT but won't give you a headache while cruising.

:yuck: to me is :thumb: to someone else and :barf: to another. Exhaust is very subjective.
