My M6 Z28 vs Ferrari 360 Modena

Last night I was coming home from my cousin's birthday party at 9:30pm when I jumped onto the 10 freeway heading West (San Bernardino freeway). I came across a gorgeous silver Ferrari 360 Modena. The vehicle still had the dealer plates. I left my Elec. Cutout closed because i didn't want to alarm/scare him away. I cruised on by his driver's side at approx. 72 mph hoping he would notice my plates "TRYYYME" and want to mess around. He didn't take the bait at first. I had to ride alongside his driver-side for about a mile before he realized I wanted to "play".

Anhow, I was in 3rd gear going approx. 75 mph waiting for him to get the first jump.....he did. As soon as heard/saw him take off, I floored it, hit the 6,800 rev limiter and shifted into 4th reeling him nicely then eventually passing him. As soon he saw me starting to pull away from him, he shut it down. What an @ss I thought. I wanted to put at least a car or so on him before we shut it down. The sweetest part of this entire night is that I had my brother in the passenger seat filming the entire thing.

Could someone please tell me how to post up a vid? The vid. camera I used to record the race was a regular camcorder, not digital. I'm dying to show you guys.

yes, please instruct me how to post my vid. It's a regular camcorder, so I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Please please please.

Good kill. I would like to see this video. WHy don't we all come and visit to watch the vid and drink some brews ? LOL

Seriously , there is a way you can change that over to digital.
I wish I knew how.
Post up when you get it done...

I think you can bring it to best buy/circuit city/radio shack....blah blah....and I think they can change it to digital for a little fee.

Get a video card that has a video in (rca type) jack so you can hook the camcorder up to the computer and record away. I think you'll need some software too, don't know what kind though.

try looking here for something to convert:

http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=CON

i think what you want is this one:

http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=API-550&cat=CON

$155 ....this is a decent one....it does bothways (analog to digital or other way around) i've seen some other cheaper boxes that goes for around $50 that only do analog to digital (which is all you need).

check some more on compgeeks or go to Best Buys, i've seen them there.

remember that going with a box that plugs into USB is much less hassle then an internal card.....sometimes they conflict and crap.

Good kill; any luck on the video?

I don't get the "he must be pissed" comments. Yeah, the guy in the Ferarri lost, but he still went home in his Modena. I'd wager that if he wanted the car to be faster, he's got the money to make it faster.

Possibly, but I don't think that Jegs has any Modena parts... I'm not sure what kind of aftermarket there is for Ferraris.

Tubi-exhaust, but damn I would hate to see what that costs, you see them listed all the time in the back of the Dupont Registry, so that kinda gives you an idea!

If you were driving a Ferrari and some guy in an F-Body came up next to you and beat you... Would you be mad? I sure as hell wouldn't because i'd still be driving the Ferrari.

Well I dunno, but I think their is a certain mind set that comes with driving a Ferrari, you paid so much for this fine Italian sports car that everybody wants to have so you think its the fastest thing in the world. I posted my kill of a Ferrari from last night, the bastard wanted to run me for $50, we did, I won and he turned around and ditched me not forking over the $50 he owed me, now don't tell me he couldn't afford it. He was probably mad, upset, and embarassed that a lowly 15K dollar domestic walked his snoooty ass

Except that a Ferrari is an actual performance car, and not a gas sipping 4 banger with bolt ons! :p

so getting over 30 mpg when not under boost is a bad thing???????

i've got a '98 TA with an A4....what would happen if i tried to match the power of that Prelude with stage 2 heads cam and full exhaust? 13-15 mpg? it's getting 19-20 (70% highway and very little racing) now with a few mild bolt-ons and 93 octane is $2.10 /gal ....and i drive 50-55 miles per day. i put around 25k miles in a year.

25k / 19 = 1316 gal gas x $2.10 = $2763/yr. 25k / 14 = 1786/gal x $2.10 = $3750.

that's $987 more per year or $82/month in gas. and this is assuming that i drive it moderately. but with new power, you will WOT more often and that 14mpg will drop to 10 mpg easy.

this ignorant bull**** is embarrassing
and you've never driven a Prelude with ATA before haven't you. holy **** that car handles well. it is an amazing handler for a car of that price. you think our front heavy, solid rear...and overall, much heavier car..... can compete with a stock Prelude in the twisties assuming that driver skills are equal?

Wow I feel very sorry for you  Only 20mpg? I guess you should have got a 6 speed. I got 34mpg last year when I bought it and on my last trip I made I got 30mpg. I will smoke any bolton Prelude also. Also, if any of us 4th gen owners wanted to compete in the twisties with a prelude don't you think we would have bought a car that was made for the twisties and not straight line racing? Put an automatic behind that prelude like your T/A and lets see if it gets the same gas mileage and reliability.

well drive to work in bumper to bumper traffic for 1.5 hours each way and then tell me you want a 6spd.

I got 34mpg last year when I bought it and on my last trip I made I got 30mpg.

the keyword here is trip....highways....cruising speeds for long extended period of time with little stop and go traffic.... unless you go on a trip everyday, you won't get 34 mpg.

I will smoke any bolton Prelude also.

that's nice.

i bought a Trans Am LS1 convertible with A4 because i like convertibles, i like the power i was getting at a cheap price....i like a 4 seater (so no C5).....and i like not shifting a 6spd in rush hour Wash DC traffic....i didn't buy the car to race in a straightline only...nor did i buy it to race in the twisties..... i bought it to be my daily driver.....if i lose to a Prelude in the twisties or in a straight line, i don't cry and make up excuses about it....i'm a big boy now.

Put an automatic behind that prelude like your T/A and lets see if it gets the same gas mileage and reliability.

my 1990 Honda Accord LX 4cyl with 150k miles and auto use to get around 28 mpg going on the same route that i use with the T/A.

Beating a Ferrari in a lowly F-body is definitely fun. Congrats on the kill.

I still fondly remember taking down an older Ferrari in my dead-stock 94 Formula a few years ago. It was a 308, I think (the Magnum P.I. Ferrari). It took all day to wipe the grin off my face.

I posted my 360 kill a while back, definitly a good time. I have beaten 2 Ferarri's and got spanked by a Lambo Diablo VT. There is a new Lambo Gallardo that I've been seeing a lot lately, may have to chase him down one night. Good kill!

PS: at least you got your kill on tape, my camera was in the back seat, and we couldn't get it out in time!
