$1.97 for regular here in Lansing. Which means it will be over $2 in Battle Creek.

I think these companies should have to post in the newspaper or something anytime gas jumps more than 5 cents during any week. give us a reason for the jump

You think they should let everyone know when price goes up by 5 cents a gallon?! You'd have a field day up here then when you find out that the price has just gone up by 10 or 12 cents per LITRE!!! And that happens all the time. I know that $1.80 - $2.00 seems like a big jump, but here, our gas prices have gone from around ~$.70/litre to ~$.86/litre!:irk::yuck: Oh, and that's for regular (87). The good stuff (92 or 94) is 10 - 12 cents more, meaning upwards of ~$.96 - $.98/litre:(. This is absolute :bs:.

I remember last summer when prices dropped way down, regular gas cost as low as $.55/litre..............I mean now, it's damn close to double!

(but I REFUSE to drive a gas-miser vehicle:p)

$1.98 here as well, the Admiral station off of 131 had it still for $1.75 and there was a line extending out into the street. I just paid $2.13 for 93:mad: I have to get my sunfire on the road soon, I can't afford these insane prices since I live so far out in the country and have to drive long distances to get everywhere.

this pisses me off!

a few weeks ago, gas got up to 1.79 for regular. than over the course of 3 weeks, it dropped to 1.55. than 2 days later it was around 1.74. this is :bs:

They are saying gas will top out at $2.50 by the end of the month.

kandied91z
05-04-2004, 08:28 PM
if i had to pay 2.50 for 93+ a gallon to fill up that means i'd be paying $40 to go under 200 miles.....$1 to drive 5 miles. that's alot of fun!

we need a sticky thread that people can post weekly updates on the cheapest gas.

Also keeping petroleum traders jumpy and oil prices high:

• An attack over the weekend in Saudi Arabia that killed six employees of an oil contractor.

• An attack a week earlier against oil facilities in Iraq.

• OPEC's apparent ability to police members' output after the cartel of oil exporters announced a production cut of 1 million barrels a day that began April 1.

Last week's penny or so drop from daily records could be the only relief until fall, Williams says.

A monthly study from polling company Harris Interactive and Kelley Blue Book, an auto price and information service, said Monday that nearly 40 percent of shoppers who plan to buy in the next week have changed what they're considering because of gas prices.

The Energy Information Administration's weekly report showed prices up from a week ago everywhere but California, where the average for regular unleaded was $2.115, down 0.9 of a cent.

Nationwide, the average is 33.1 cents higher than a year ago

This sucks, I drive 500+ miles per week to school and with these prices I need to get a job just to pay for gas. No more trips whenever I feel like it, I actually have to realize that a trip to the movies or to visit a friend will probably cost me a few bucks.
93 octane at $2.20 per gallon
20 mpg
a 135 mile trip to and from school costs me $14.85 every day of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $74.25 a week just to drive to school, times 15 weeks per semester equals $1113.75 times 3 semesters per year $3341.25
WOW, I didn't realize it cost this much until now, a Cavalier is looking better and better.
The government has got to start doing something about putting a ceiling on gas prices or people won't be able to drive anywhere.

Driving was fun about 6 years ago when gas was $1 a gallon, now this just plain makes me sick.

I own 2 Suburbans and one Camaro. The Suburbans get about 16-17 MPG on the freeway, but only about 8 MPG stop and go. I almost passed out when I filled up the 89 Sub today, it's a 35 gallon tank that was nearly empty.... The 91 Sub has a 40 gallon tank. These prices need to drop. I'm not even going to bother putting my boat up for sale this year, and I'm definatly not gonna bother using it with these prices. The Camaro might stay in the garage this year too.

Don't worry too much guys. Bush will have his buddy Bandar bin Sultan (Bandar Bush as he's known) lower the prices probably in mid to late August. You'll get a quick 20 - 30 cent relief, think Bush is a good guy, vote for him, and then the gas prices keep shooting up. Wait, this board will vote for him regardless. LOL

You can't simply blame Bush for the whole worlds excessive gas price increase, the president alone cannot make the decisions. You have to look at all the governmental agencies that actually have the power to determine these things that the president cannot even control. You can blame Bush for a lot of screw ups but ultimately nobody could have forseen the future and done everything correctly.
I could go on but this thread is for gas prices and hopefully people will post the cheapest prices and projected future prices and info that can help us out with saving some money.
I am still trying to find the cheapest place for 93 or 94 octane. All the gas stations in Whitmore Lake are outrageous. A few Meijer gas stations have been the lowest I have seen lately.

Political instability in the Middle East is said to be driving up the cost of gas. Now ask yourself why it is that the Middle East is so unstable these days, ask whose policies are adding to the instability and when you've answered that question you'll also know who is to blame for your high gas prices.

Here's a hint: There hasn't been this much turmoil in the Middle East since Bush ver. 1.

I don't mind when the arabs are screwing us on gas because right now we probably deserve it. High prices are being blamed on our own gas companies right now, saying we don't have enough refinery capacity and inventory is low. What a load of BS! Has anyone heard of a gas station running out of gas recently? They just posted record profits again last year, too. I don't think the Saudi's are going to feel to gracious when it is not them causeing these big swings in the first place.

By the way, I picked upa Sunoco gas credit card and it gives you 4% cash back on gas purchases (or 8 cents/gallon right now).
