4L60E and EDGE Converter Problem

Just have had my transmission rebuilt with HD input housing and shaft, 5 pinion front and rear platetary gears, hardened output shaft, corvette servo, HD clutches and band(can't remember which brand) and a lock up 3400 EDGE converter. From the first mile I dove it I thought I had to rev pretty high(about 2500) to get it moving pretty good from stop lights. I was under the inpression that arond town the converter would feel alittle loose but I didn't think it would be like this.

Second when I go full thorttle at about 60 MPH( I still have my stock 3.23s) it runs all the way up to 5500 RPM and then SLOWLY takes off. My car pulled much harder with the stock stall at that speed. But if I'm going from idle to about 45MPH and go WOT it pulls like a mother fu**er and pulls hard all the way thought the gears. It doesn't make sence why it so "soft" when I punch it at 55-70 MPH I can't even feel it down shift, but I can hear it. Its that soft.

Third when the converter does locks up it will unlock about a mile later for no reason. Its not pulling down, it will do it on a flat road or going up hills while going the speed limit. It will go about a mile not locked up and then lock up again. I borrowed a scanner and there is no slippage at all in the converter when locked up. Duty cycle is normal at 90%. The Pulse with modulator is trying to lock up the converter about every 8 seconds when it un locks its self. But still takes about a minute or two to lock up again. Then unlocks about a mile or two later and the whole cycle repeats.

I've talked to the techs at EDGE, my tranny guys and a few mechanics and no one have any ideas whats wrong. I've also spoken with Bryan Herter at PCMforless and he said that it wasn't a PCM problem. I don't know if anyone has had any problems simular and what to do about it. I'm kind of out of luch it seems right now. Right now the tranny has about 300 miles on it. It hasn't changed any of its symptoms since mile 1. The tranny guys said its broke in.

My mods included:
- Deep tranny pan
- B&M tranny cooler
- Ported LT1 heads (Flow very simular to stock LT4
- CC305 Cam
- Jet Hot headers
- PCMforless Programming
- 1.6 rocker
- And usual bolt ons.

If any one has any ideas please tell. I'm looking for ideas

Well that is not good to hear, Im waiting on my Edge converter to get here. I was told that it would not feel any different when street driving. Im looking to get a 2800/3000 stall

You know that you can get your money back dont ya? If you dont like it or have problems.

Maybe the stall you have is a little high for the street......Im no pro but just taking a guess

i bought an edge for my previous 3.8 and it wasnt a very good converter, cars actually slower with the edge than the yank that was in it and even the stock, atleast edge will refund the money, and as soon as i have time to tear my tranny apart the edge is history i definately wont be buying one for the trans am

My Edge does just fine. Where did you buy your rebuild kit from? Whenever my tranny guy was installing it he chipped one of the little seals and that caused it to slip a hell of a lot, sort of like what you're describing. I pulled it back out and he put a different seal on and it was like new. My 3200 Edge does feel a bit on the loose side, though. WOT is great! :)

Yup .... sounds like a seal leak, probably a small cut in the lip
